SBA Website Lives
In 2008, TECO acquired the assets of the Structural Board Association, including the SBA website with its wealth of information about OSB. TECO continues to maintain OSBGuide.com, so please use this or TECO's own website to find useful information about the application and performance of OSB.

"Between the optimist and the pessimist, the difference is droll. The optimist sees the doughnut, the pessimist the hole."

Dear :
With so much seemingly going in the wrong direction in the country and the world, this can be a difficult time to be an optimist. Still, I believe in what Sir Winston Churchill said: "A pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty." Even before the housing market imploded, we were searching for new opportunities and we found some, in our work with CARB certification and testing and our continuing work with Major League Baseball.
And while you should celebrate the successes that come your way, you can't be satisfied with the status quo. If you keep your eyes and mind open and look for opportunities where others see difficulties -- if you live your life as an optimist -- you'll be ready when the next big thing comes your way.
I try as much as I can to live my life as an optimist, and I urge you to do the same because doing so is just a better way to live. Whether you are focused on finding the good or the bad in life, you can usually find it.

US Green Building Council Urged To Accept Other Forest Certification Programs
Forest certification standards from twelve nations have called on the USGBC to end its discrimination against wood and accept all credible sustainable forest certification standards. The certification programs pointed out that wood is one of the best environmental choices for construction, as long as it is from a responsible source - and that fibre certified to the 26 national forest certification programs recognized by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) meets this demand.

TECO Expands Adhesive Testing Capability
TECO proudly announces the expansion of its adhesive testing capabilities. TECO has been accredited by the IAS to conduct, among many other tests, the CSA series O112 adhesive tests (CSA O112.1 through O112.9), and has recently added CSA O112.10 to its accredited test list. The expansion gives TECO the ability to evaluate adhesives used to bond solid wood materials in structural wood products intended for limited moisture exposure applications.

CARB Formaldehyde Limits Adopted Nationally
On July 7, 2010, President Obama signed into law S.1660 - known as the Formaldehyde Standards for Composite Wood Products Act. Emission limits set by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) have been incorporated into a modification of the U.S. Toxic Substances Control Act. No changes were made to the types of products that are regulated by CARB (still leaving bamboo-based composite products unregulated). The new law directs the Environmental Protection Agency to develop and promulgate regulations by January 1, 2013. The regulations will become effective 180 days after promulgation. The time limits for national implementation of CARB Phase 2 emission levels for composite core hardwood plywood, medium density fiberboard, particleboard, and thin medium density fiberboard are essentially the CARB enforcement date plus 6 months. However, if the maximum time is taken to develop the EPA regulation, CARB Phase 2 limits will be fully implemented by the time that the national limits become enforced.
