Dear :
Some tragedies are natural, some man-made. Our friends that live around the Gulf of Mexico, and especially those in Louisiana, have had their share of both in recent years. There is a man-made one dominating the headlines now, the oil slick that is threatening that region's way of life. But I am also reminded this week, with the opening of the 2010 Atlantic hurricane season, that many parts of the south haven't fully recovered from the affects of Hurricane Katrina in August 2005.
As our families, friends, and colleagues in the U.S. Gulf Coast region face this newest challenge, I encourage you to do all you can, individually and through the companies you work for, to help. We are all linked in more ways than any of us can even imagine. Their pain and challenges should not have to be shouldered alone.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in the Gulf Coast.

EPA Takes Action On Formaldehyde
EPA is preparing to issue its long-delayed draft risk assessment of formaldehyde on June 2, which is expected to set one of the agency's strictest cancer inhalation safety limits ever for a chemical. The move is likely to drive stringent new regulations for air emissions and other environmental releases of the substance, including rules governing certain plywood manufacturers. EPA last published a formaldehyde assessment in 1991, labeling the chemical a "probable human carcinogen." The upcoming EPA assessment is anticipated to be much more stringent than existing risk-based standards for formaldehyde, given new data suggesting that exposure to formaldehyde could be linked with leukemia. These studies are hotly disputed by industry, however, because there is no known biological mechanism in which formaldehyde enters the bloodstream to cause cancer.
