Welcome to 2008
This year promises to be another challenging one for anyone associated with the housing industry, but as Harry Golden once said, "the only thing that overcomes hard luck is hard work." So we plan on working harder and working smarter to serve our customers in 2008, and we look forward to seeing you soon.
From all of us at TECO, we wish you a safe and successful 2008.

TECO Turns 75
Formed in 1933 as the Timber Engineering Company, a subsidiary of the National Lumber Manufacturers' Association, TECO has a long history of R&D, innovation, and education within the structural wood products industry in the United States. Even as we work to build a strong platform for TECO's next 75 years, we will celebrate the company's legacy throughout 2008, so look for more from us this year. Link to the History Page on our website to learn more.
As an example of how TECO contributed to our nation's and industry's past, below is a photo of a U.S. Navy blimp hanger under construction, built of wooden arches held together with TECO Wedge-Fit split-ring timber connectors. Seventeen such wooden-arch hangers were built by the Navy during World War II, with the prototypes being Hangers 5 and 6 at the Lakehurst Naval Air Station in central New Jersey. Lakehurst NAS is where the German airship Hindenburg crashed in flames on May 6, 1937.

Trend Continues: People In U.S. Are Moving from North to South and West
Movement of people out of the Great Lakes region of the United States increased in 2007, while the South and West generally showed an inbound migration trend. In its annual study that tracks customer moving patterns, United Van Lines announced that Michigan topped the national list of high-outbound states for the second consecutive year, with 67.8 percent of United's Michigan customers leaving the state. New York, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin all had more people moving out than in.
The South was the top inbound migration region in 2007, with North Carolina leading the nation in inbound movers, with 61.6 percent. Nevada (59.4 percent) was the second most popular destination.
