Welcome to my first newsletter for the new year (a bit late to get started, I know, but stay with me). My head is already spinning with 2010 happenings, including a long list of shows locally, nationally, and even internationally! Read on for details...
Recap
While most people were settling into holiday mode over December and January, I found myself bracing for what looks to be an eventful and inspiring year ahead.
In late December, I was lucky enough to play support to one of my favourite songwriters, Jeff Martin (former front man for The Tea Party). It was such an honour to meet and share a stage with such an incredibly gifted performer and writer and someone I have respected for so many years. Thank you to those who came along and supported and made the night so very special.
New Years Eve was spent with some fabulous female artists (including fellow Novacastrians
VAMP) at OutSkirts at The Sandringham in Newtown (followed by all-night rooftop singing and shenanigans, which no NYE is complete without).
Within the week I was back in Sydney again, performing at the lovely Fringe Bar in Paddington. I'd been looking forward to this show, as I was again sharing the stage with my good friend
Renny Field, who even joined me on a few songs and vice-versa. I also had the opportunity to chat with StartsWithJ and StereoDan in their bid to travel the world as music journalists. Both interviews are available on my YouTube profile
here.
In January I scooted up the New England Highway in the searing heat to host three days of Songwriters Sessions at the infamous Longyard Hotel at Tamworth Festival, as well as play support for Daryl Braithwaite at his only Tamworth show. The festival is always an experience to say the least, and this year was no exception. Thanks to those who came along and shared their talents.
More recently I was lucky enough to play a show at one of my fav Newcastle venues The View Factory with awesome band
McArtney, who are currently on tour around the nation. I was also completely blown away by the collaboration between
Brian Campeau and
Elana Stone, who opened the night. If you ever get the opportunity to see these two together I strongly advise not to pass it up!
Airwaves
I was thrilled to hear that Triple J have been supporting my song "Enough For Now", which has had some airplay and was featured on the Triple J Unearthed podcast.
Also supporting me on the airwaves have been Sydney's FBi, Melbourne's PBS and a host of stations on the NSW North Coast and in QLD.
