Cari amici di Sotto Sopra,

I'm writing this newsletter while snow is falling outside and business is basically dead. The funny thing was I wanted to write about having dodged the snow three times in a row since December. Well, that didn't last long, did it? Anyway, after four extremely very busy days of Baltimore's Restaurant Week, packed every night, I'll enjoy this weather imposed breather.

January is now an official celebratory month for Monika and I since our daughter, Amelia, was born January 4th. Monika organized a beautiful 1st birthday Sunday brunch at Sotto Sopra. All enjoyed delicious food; even Monika's mama from Poland made a dish or two. Monika made the restaurant festive with balloons, a three piece quartet, games and nanny so both the parents and the children could enjoy themselves.  It was so nice to sit down and eat with family for a change.

Huge News

Starting Tuesday, February 1st, Sotto Sopra Restaurant will be offering FREE nightly Valet Parking. This is a big investment but as long as it will make it easier for you to come out and dine Italian at Sotto Sopra - this is the least we can do!

Restaurant Week Extended

I can't forget to let you know we have extended Restaurant Week through Sunday, February 6th. I'm telling you this because I think we have created one of the best menus and value in town for this event! You have to come out!

Here is a small sample of what we are offering: lobster cioppino, Chilean salmon with chorizo, beans, soffritto, and  little necks clams, steaks, lamb tartare, beet panzanella, escargots, short rib with polenta, ossobuco, risottos, Branzino with a fennel, basil sauce- blood orange brown butter, warm chocolate cake, chestnut cannoli etc.----You are crazy not to come, period!  See the full menu HERE.

If you are open to suggestion - Valentine's Day

If you plan to come to Sotto Sopra for Valentine's Day you may consider coming the day before or after. At times, Valentine's Day is so crazy, it is tough for you to truly enjoy your experience here.

Chris Clune held an amazing wine tasting in January and we continue with his themed Benchmark Wine Tasting on Thursday, February 17th - the focus is Pinot Grigio.

May February be a terrific month for all of you and make sure not to let the news of the day or bad weather control your life.

Get a cappuccino e brioche and voilà! - the day will be better!

Ciao,

Riccardo, Monika, and piccola Amelia

ITALIAN CHURCH'S FACADE REVEALS MUSICAL SCORE

Click on image to watch and hear video

(Discovery News) Stone clad church in Naples, Italy conceals Renaissance musical score in its façade. The markings on the protruding diamond shaped stones of Gesu Nuovo has puzzled historians. It was thought to represent names of caves of a volcanic rock called piperno.  Read the full story HERE

JERSEY SHORE WILL FILM IN ITALY

Snooki and JWoww on the nude beaches in Italy. Unbelievable this moronic, can't take your eyes off the accident MTV show Jersey Shore is going to film in Italy. Viewing these over-aged, over-tanned mental midgets representing Italian Americans going to Italy might make ratings bonanza but leaves me with nothing more to say here that is civil.
