Quote of the Month
| I went to a restaurant that serves 'breakfast at any time'. So I ordered French Toast during the Renaissance.

Cari
Amici, I'm
writing to you from Warsaw,
Poland. The
weather is nice but very windy. Funny, we named our Amelia for Amelia Earhart,
the first woman to cross the Atlantic, a
courageous woman with no fears. Well, our Amelia behaved the same. She never cried
and enjoyed every moment of the flight. She befriended the stewards and she smiled
effortlessly. We
will be back Labor Day, ready for an intense 4 months. There will be plenty of
events, and many special dishes for you to try. I have so many dishes in my mind,
I need to open another couple restaurants- sure, right!!! One
thing is for sure, figs will be in the menu in September in every shape and
form. We have a two Chef-for-the-Days scheduled - Bob Fleisch on Thursday,
September 9th and Chris Curcio on Monday, September 20th.
They get to work behind the scenes, in a real restaurant kitchen - both are
very excited. I
hope you visit us in September and I will share with you my trip to Poland and Italy. I promise no more that 300
photographs. Amelia
is growing fast and steady. I am sure soon enough we will be cooking together
at the restaurant. She already loves the soups we are cooking for her. Check out Amelia's pick for the month. L'Shana
Tova to our Jewish friends, may it be a sweet New Year and wishing you an easy
fast for Yom Kippur. I
hope this newsletter finds you all well and excited about being alive in this
great world. I know I am! Until
then, remember Eat
healthy, but most importantly... eat Italian! Ciao
and live life!

NEWS FROM ITALY
- Eatocracy has an interesting post, something's fishy about this meal, about getting what you ordered but you didn't know what you ordered. Trying to order food in a foreign country, in their language, can be a mine field. Guess what, it happens in your native tongue as well. Never ever hesitate to ask your server if you are unsure of how the dish is prepared.
- Finally, a woman gondolier in Venice. KMTR reports: (Venice, Italy) City Hall said Friday that Giorgia Boscolo had passed the practical exam
to become a gondolier. She is the first woman to pass this test,
considered the most difficult of those required to pilot a boat on
Venice's canals. Read the complete story HERE

CHEF FOR THE DAY- CHRIS CURCIO
6 course dinner ~ Monday, September 20reservations being accepted between 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sotto
Sopra Restaurant is pleased to announce that Chris Curcio will be our
guest chef on Monday, September 20th. Under the guidance of our
chef/owner Riccardo Bosio, Chris will be preparing a delicious six
course dinner.Chris's passion for food began at a very young
age. Whether it was helping his parents in the kitchen or watching
cooking shows on TV, he was always captivated by the different ways food
could be used and the joy it seemed to bring people. Food for him was
always about family. His parents are Italian and Irish, so food was
always a major part of holidays and family gatherings. Some of his
fondest memories from childhood are from holidays at his grandparents
house in New Jersey, the entire extended family huddled around tables
spooning platefuls of classic Italian favorites. As Chris got
older and began cooking for himself, he realized just how much he
enjoyed it. Spending a Sunday trying a new recipe or experimenting with
different cuisines is one of his favorite things to do. He looks forward
to sharing his love of cooking with everyone on September 20th.MENU1st courseIppoglosso Crudo Marinatohalibut ceviche marinated with cilantro, jalapeno, red onion and lime2nd courseLa Polenta di Riccardoseared polenta, poached egg, shaved fennel, prosciutto di Parma and Parmesan cheese3rd courseRavioli di Anatraduck ravioli with a truffle demi-glace4th courseSorbetto di Limone e Basilicolemon-basil sorbet5th courseOrata in Crosta di Porciniporcini encrusted Orata with parsnip puree and pickled carrots6th courseTiramisuCost per person $45(excludes beverages, tax and gratuity)Call your reservation in for Chris Curcio, Chef for the Day at 410 625 0534NO OTHER PROMOTIONS OR DISCOUNTS ARE APPLICABLE TO THIS EVENT
