Cari Amici,

June is around the corner and as I have mentioned in my previous newsletter I'm sending the newsletter early to give you time to plan for our events.

May has been a great month for us. Almost 200 people took their mothers to the restaurant on Mother's day. I want to take this occasion to thank you for the trust you put in Sotto Sopra when celebrating your special occasions. We want everybody happy; at least that has been my goal for 15 years!

On a political note: Have you seen the EURO? It is $1.22 and going down. I'm so excited, at least this year I get a currency tax break. The family will be in Poland and Italy in August for the christening of our baby Amelia. Finally, I get to buy some Italian goods on the cheap.

However, I feel really bad for my compatriots overseas. It's really tough out there. Businesses are shutting down at an alarming rate and unemployment is skyrocketing. I hope the Euro will disappear in the next 10 years. It is causing so much pain in the lives of millions. The concept might have sounded good to a bunch of politicians who live behind draped walls and golden quarters. In reality with such a cultural and historic diversity how can anyone conceive of an imperialistic currency. What a mistake. I say shame on these visionary misfits.

Congratulazioni al cuoco unico Bill Crouse sulla sua vittoria

We are so proud of Chef Crouse and his win this week at the Mason Dixon Master Chef competition. So far out of all the competitors he received the highest score. We hope you follow this March madness styled competition and come out and root Chef Bill Crouse on to the top title. The public is invited to come dine and be part of the experience.

Chef Crouse's last cooking class is June 13th - he will resume classes come the fall season. The classes have been a great success.

Pesche squisite, sugose, succulenti

June means peaches. Delicious, juicy succulent peaches - they are perfect for grilling and salads. Check out the video below of my TV appearance from when I was young and handsome now I'm a father with a father's worry lines.

As always, have a great month, and remember... a healthy spirit needs good nourishment! Eat healthy!

Ciao

Riccardo & Monika Bosio

DRINKING IN ITALY

Mayor Bans Pub Crawls in Rome

Tourists hoping to spice up their Rome sightseeing agenda this year with a little pub crawling may be disappointed to know that from now until December 31, 2010, Rome's Mayor Gianni Alemanno has placed a ban on all pub crawls in Rome establishments.

Pub crawls have been at the center of attention since last year when an Australian tourist was found dead in Rome's Tiber River wearing a Rome pub crawl t-shirt.  Read the complete story HERE at From When in Rome Tours.

Italy launches foetus in cocktail glass poster to stop women drinking

Italy has resorted to shock tactics to warn women of the dangers of drinking while pregnant, launching a campaign based on the image of a foetus inside a cocktail glass.

The advertising campaign carries a simple message - "When Mum drinks, baby drinks too" ("Mama beve, bimbo beve" in Italian). Read the complete story at Telegraph.co.uk
