March 2011
Greetings!
United Way Exceeds 2010 Campaign Goal!
thank you celebration
United Way celebrated the 2010 campaign success Thursday, February 17th at the Carmike 15 on Whittlesey Boulevard. Dr. Tim Mescon, 2010 Campaign Chair, announced to a crowd of over 300 donors and volunteers that the goal of $6,500,000 was exceeded- we raised $6,758,246! United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley manages the Combined Federal Campaign as well, which raised an additional $882,312.

United Way staff and board members would like to say, THANK YOU Chattachoochee Valley! Without donors and volunteers who give of their time, talent and financial resources we would not be able to create hope and inspire change in the lives of people living and working right here in our community!

A special thank you to the West Coast Banker Boyz from CB&T for the outstanding video they did to celebrate the campaign success!

Live United Youth Camp and volunteer spotlight
The Second Annual Live United Youth Camp hosted 13 seventh grade students last month for two and a half days of learning about the United Way movement.  The students visited several United Way funded partner agencies, learned about needs in our community and United Way's four focus areas of basic needs, income, health and education.  They participated in volunteering activities, made new friends and had fun! Many thanks to Aflac, our Live United Youth Camp sponsor and to Nate Klein of Aflac our Youth Camp founder, and chairman of the camp for the past two yearsnate klein.
Nate moved to Columbus in 2007 and immediately contacted United Way to volunteer. He believes in volunteering and devotes countless hours to a variety of projects, often bringing along friends and co-workers. Today, Nate serves on the United Way Board of Directors and is chairman of the Volunteer Center Advisory Committee.

According to Nate, "I volunteer for fun.  It's because of the people I meet and the lives/organizations that I've helped to change that keep me excited.  I like having a small hand in helping change the world, one person and one organization at a time."
