January 2011
Greetings!
United Way Campaign nearing goal
United Way has reached 97.7 percent of its campaign goal of $6.5 million.  There are still a few companies working to complete their employee campaigns and individual donors who have not yet given.  We need everyone's participation to reach goal.

United Way improves lives and builds a stronger community by bringing people and resources together from across the Chattahoochee Valley region.  United Way supports 49 programs and 26 agencies in Chattahoochee, Harris, Marion, Muscogee, Stewart, Talbot and Taylor counties in Georgia and Russell County in Alabama. If you would like to support this year's campaign, please call 706.327.3255.
Volunteer Spotlight
Rich CellinoEach month we will spotlight a United Way volunteer who has helped make a difference.  This month our focus is on Rich Cellino from CB&T.  Rich volunteered to Chair the 2010 United Way workplace campaign at CB&T.  Although he had been involved in prior year campaigns, 2010 marked his first year serving as Chairman.  In planning for his role,  Rich wanted to make sure that CB&T team members knew:  the purpose of United Way, how their gift would help people locally, and how to make their gift through their new on-line giving process.  Knowing that people like to laugh and have fun, Rich decided to put a new spin on the traditional campaign video.  He worked with his colleagues to create the "CB&T Banker Boys" video for United Way which creatively illustrated the key initiatives needed in order to make the campaign a success.  Click to see video.

"I've learned so much about United Way through this volunteer experience," Rich said. "United Way has a much bigger impact than I ever imagined and I now have a better understanding of the pressing needs of many people in our community," he added. CB&T encourages employees to be part of the community and volunteer in many different capacities.  Rich says this experience helped him not only to give back and make a difference in our community, but also further developed his skills in the areas of public speaking, project planning, delegation, creativity, and personal growth.  Going forward, Rich plans at some capacity to continue to give of his time, talents and treasures in support of United Way and the 26 agencies it supports.
