...This is what healthy people do when things get rough.  Come together to tell the story, get the wince, begin to weave the net again that will enable you to move forward. It is one of the bright spots in this difficult time-people are coming together in ways they have not before. .

Taking Up Our Crosses

Jesus says: "If anyone wants to be a follower of mine, let him ... take up his cross and follow me" (Matthew 16:24). He does not say: "Make a cross" or "Look for a cross." Each of us has a cross to carry. There is no need to make one or look for one. The cross we have is hard enough for us! But are we willing to take it up, to accept it as our cross?

Maybe we can't study, maybe we are handicapped, maybe we suffer from depression, maybe we experience conflict in our families, maybe we are victims of violence or abuse. We didn't choose any of it, but these things are our crosses. We can ignore them, reject them, refuse them or hate them. But we can also take up these crosses and follow Jesus with them.

Greetings!
We hope this email provides resources and encouragement for your work in the world; where you devote our time and energy, including work, relationships, your service in the world, and your effort to live justly. We are particularly excited about our new groups for people laid off or in job transition.  Read on!

It's 2010.  You're in a fulfilling and meaningful job.
What did you do in 2009 to get there?

Make a Living, Have a Life: 7 weeks to clarity

Explore what your next best step might be, right now.

It's hard to know how to proceed in uneasy economic times.  Here's a chance to get together with Lumunos and others who are asking the same questions.   While you deal with the nitty-gritty of things like exploring the web for jobs, networking connections, and sending out resumes, our Make a Living, Have a Life groups help you listen to your life as you discern where it should go.

Groups of 6-10 people meet for 7-14 weeks, depending on your own time preference, using conference call and email.  You can join in from anywhere!

Know someone in a transitional time?

Sponsor their participation in Make a Living, Have a Life. Or sponsor a small group!

Would people in your church or community like to participate together? We can do that!

Your time matters.

You choose the length and frequency of the conference call (90 min or 1 hr), and the Time of day for the conference call (morning, afternoon, evening). Groups are formed according to these preferences.

"Lord, teach us to pray..."
"Lord, teach us to pray..."

These days we feel like we need a lot of prayer, but do we do more talking about prayer than actually praying?

The Lumunos Prayer Team is a group of dedicated people who practice the art of prayer.  They know that prayer is more profound than we can even imagine.  Eight members of our current Prayer Team have served for as long as 13 years praying for people seeking to be more open to God's Light in their lives-whether they are dealing with illness, sorrow, joy, work, family, or issues of call.  Listen to the words of Margie Nea:

"...when I returned from a trip to the Sudan, waiting for me was the card from you saying that it was the month you were praying for me.  Your prayers were especially appreciated.  Thank you."

Now under the volunteer leadership of Tracy and Terry Moore, the Prayer Team is seeking new members who are:
  • Willing to receive a letter at the beginning of each month with names of those for whom prayers are being offered.
  • Willing to have one's own life enriched by serving with the Prayer Team.
  • Willing to set time aside to pray for these people.

Give the gift of prayer to someone today by joining the Prayer Team or donating to support this vital ministry!

Email Tracy at ttmoore9491@sbcglobal.net or call her at 248-363-3985.
