November 2010 Organising Help
Greetings!

Hi!  Well I've had a terribly exciting month of October!  I met organising guru Julie Morgenstern and was lucky enough to be able to show her around Sydney and get to know her better.  She's been working with clients for 21 years, that's awesome experience!  Plus she's lovely!

Next, I've been selected to be an expert on the "Ask the Organiser" panel at my annual NAPO conference in the States in April...one of those big audacious goals of the future set 5 1/2 years ago has been achieved!

I've also started mentoring new Professional Organisers...if you know anyone interested, send them my way...we can do it via Skype if they are not in Sydney.

News flash: Peter Walsh is publishing a new book end of December, you can preorder it on Amazon, I've put the link below...order a Kindle version!  I can't wait to read the book!  I think Peter is amazing and spot on with his viewpoints!

Happy to answer any organising questions sent my way!

Warm regards,
Karen Koedding

The holidays are coming!
Time to get organised and plan for the holidays.  If you get started now, you'll be able to enjoy your guests and parties.  Here's your to-do list!

1. Plan a trip away:
  a.
Flights
  b. Accommodation
  c. Hire/rental car
  d. Tickets for special events
  e. Pet care
  f.  House
care: plants, mail, newspapers

2. Gift shopping
As long as you have the space to store gifts, it's never too early to buy them.  Consider buying experiences instead of objects.  I.e. movie tickets, restaurant vouchers, contribute towards a trip, concert tickets.

3. Gift wrap...use what you have!  (Remember Zero Inventory)

4. Holiday Greeting cards
Start addressing and writing them out now.  Create a list on Excel of the people that you are sending them to this year.  You can use this list next y
ear.

5. Declutter the Guest Room!  (aka the Dumping Room).  Time to clear it out.  If you're in the States, donate those unused Winter coats to the homeless.  Everywhere, try to be minimalistic in this room.  Make it a room that you'd like to stay in.  Think about how a really nice hotel room feels.  Clear the closet for your guests.

6. Set up your Guest Room for your guests.  Stock it with your nice towels, some good books and magazines.

7. Clear out the pantry of expired food.

8. Prepare the shopping list for the holiday meals that you are hosting.

9. Decorate your home.  Anything that you don't use this year to decorate, chuck out or donate.

10. Relax and enjoy!

One last note from the Big Elf...stop waiting to use your good dishes for a special occasion...this year when you use your good dishes, donate the everyday ones and put the good ones into your kitchen cupboards...who are you saving them for?  Aren't you special enough to use them all the time?

About A Little Elf

It is a well known fact that disorganisation creates stress. And you carry this stress around with you everywhere you go.  We will help you to get organized, giving you more time and energy to do the things that are important to you and a new found freedom from chaos and stress.

A Little Elf provides organising solutions, ideas, information, and teaches you new skills to keep up the systems we put in place. We will help you create an organised space that will increase your productivity and allow you to take control of your belongings, clutter, paperwork - or whatever it may be that is stopping you from living a full and productive life, as opposed to these things controlling you.
