Greetings!

I'm sure my male readers won't be as interested as my female readers, but I got to spend time with Oprah's expert on organising, Peter Walsh.  He spoke at a breakfast in Sydney and at an Officeworks store for DYMO National Organising Week in Australia.  I was able to attend both and spend a little time catching up with him.  For those of you that follow A Little Elf on Facebook, you would have known about my excitement.  Check FB out for the photos.

A Little Elf is now offering a Mentoring Program for newbie Professional Organisers.  It's face to face or via phone, so anyone anywhere can sign up.  Please spread the word.

Always happy to answer any questions or hear your success stories. Best wishes!

Warm regards,
Karen Koedding

Peter Walsh tips for your workspace
I've decided to pass on some of Peter's advice on organising your work station.  Here you go:

1. Think of your desk as the front seat of your car.  Everything that you need to complete you work efficiently should be in arm's length reach.  Anything else that you don't need every day should be outside of that space.

2. Use a signal to your workmates to let them know when you can or can not be interrupted.  Be consistent in applying this signal.  Peter used to have 2 pencils, one with a red flag on it, another with a green flag on it.  Put the red flag in your pencil cup in full sight when you don't want to be interrupted, change it to the green flag when it's ok to come speak to you.

3. "Finish the cycle."  Just like in doing your clothes washing, you need to make sure that you finish the cycle of your tasks.  You couldn't leave your clothes in the washing machine after they've been cleaned would you?  Ok, if you have, didn't you have to run the wash again?  And the clothes stunk?  Same thing with your tasks.  Finish the cycle and strive to hear the "ding" in your head.

4.  Multi-tasking...NO! NO! NO! DON'T do it!...Enough said.

5. Do not use sticky/Post-it notes.

6. Flat surfaces are not storage space.

7. If you're right handed put your phone on the left.  Answer your phone with your left hand, use your right to take notes.

8. Think about what you want FROM your space, not what you want FOR it.

Hope these tips help you out!

It is a well known fact that disorganisation creates stress. And you carry this stress around with you everywhere you go.  We will help you to get organized, giving you more time and energy to do the things that are important to you and a new found freedom from chaos and stress.

A Little Elf provides organising solutions, ideas, information, and teaches you new skills to keep up the systems we put in place. We will help you create an organised space that will increase your productivity and allow you to take control of your belongings, clutter, paperwork - or whatever it may be that is stopping you from living a full and productive life, as opposed to these things controlling you.
