  July 2010 Organising Help
Greetings!

Hello!  How's that organising going?

Big month!  I'm moving to a new place!  Hmm, I think this will be my 18th move over my lifetime, not including helping my clients.  It's a lot of work, and I'll be getting my Little Elves to help me out.

Let us know if you have any moving questions.

We have been doing many home office paperwork clients lately...not so good for before and after photos as you can not see how much of a change occurs on a paper job, but I had a lovely client burst into tears of relief this month after getting her tax paperwork together for her.  She is a few years behind on it, and says it has been blocking many parts of her life.  She told me that she can truly feel a weight lifted from  her shoulders.

Hopefully we can help you out a little with the tips below.  Happy organising!

Warm regards,
Karen Koedding

Moving, moving, moving

It's all that's on my mind!

What have I completed so far (not in order):

1. Looked at flats
2. Applied for a flat
3. Looked at said flat again
4. Put a deposit on flat
5. Signed lease on flat
6. Gave notice to the landlord
7. Gave notice to the flatmate
8. Booked the removalists (Bondi Removals - a family owned business with great customer service), needed to estimate number of boxes
9. Bought used packing boxes...can sell them back as well.  Plus bought tape, tape gun, packing paper, mattress bag.
10. Carried 50 boxes upstairs by myself.  Ugh.
11. Decided on packing plan...packing everything that you can't see...whatever is stored in closets and cabinets that I won't need in next two weeks.
12. Called phone/internet company...why is it that whatever you do, they make sure that you won't have continuous internet access?!?
13. Set up recurring payments for rent in my online banking for the next year.
14. Called the company I rented my fridge and washing machine from... negotiated to buy the fridge (bonus: forgot I had put down a deposit in the beginning that I get back), and made arrangements to have washing machine picked up.
15. Posted personal status update on FaceBook that I wanted to get a washing machine... quick response, a friend needs to get rid of theirs!
16. Filled out bond return form with landlord 1, scanned and emailed it off.
17. Created time line on paper letting flatmate know of specific deadlines.
18. Packed half of the boxes with help from a friend.  Numbered the boxes, and created box inventory list.  This way the contents are not written on the outside of the box for all to see, just the room and the box number.  I can refer to details on the list.
19. Scheduled A Little Elf to help me unpack on moving day, late afternoon.  Yay!  Extra hands!
20. Washed blankets and rugs prior to packing.
21. Started my Open First box.

Need to do:
1. Call electric company
2. Call gas company
3. Eat as much of my cold food as possible before move, as it will be stored is esky/cooler on moving day until fridge is moved and turned on again.
4. Change address for any mail coming to my home to my PO Box.  Highly recommend a PO Box if you are a renter.  It's SO worth it.  I think I only need to change my address with 4 places.
5. Finish packing!
6. Arrange to get that used washing machine.
7. Maybe, not sure yet, place online food shopping order for delivery to new home.
8. Move and unpack!  (3 words, but so much time and effort involved!)
9. Clean the old flat.

Whew!  No wonder people get stressed moving.

It is a well known fact that disorganisation creates stress. And you carry this stress around with you everywhere you go.  We will help you to get organized, giving you more time and energy to do the things that are important to you and a new found freedom from chaos and stress.

A Little Elf provides organising solutions, ideas, information, and teaches you new skills to keep up the systems we put in place. We will help you create an organised space that will increase your productivity and allow you to take control of your belongings, clutter, paperwork - or whatever it may be that is stopping you from living a full and productive life, as opposed to these things controlling you.
