| Greetings!
Hope you are well!
Easter break is over...this newsletter focuses on teenagers and their parents. The teenage years are tough for both parties, and from my experience with clients, a lot of the arguments center around the messy bedroom and late prep of assignments. We're going to help you out with some diy tips to get them organised.
Warm regards,

Getting Your Teenagers Organised
|
How long has your teen been begging you to change their
bedroom? Is their hectic schedule getting more and more difficult to keep up
with? Between school, sports practice, clubs, and of course their new social
life, it may be hard for you, as well as them, to keep track of everything. Something
is constantly changing in this stage of one's life. Whether your teen is
starting off at a new school, or getting ready to graduate, the To-do list is long
and overwhelming. Take some time to help your teen get more organised while you
share some quality time together. Once they are more organised, their whole
schedule will seem a lot less crazy. Every teenager goes through the
stage where their whole style changes. They are ready for the kiddie
clothes and childish room decorations to go. When redoing a teen's room, you should aim at
creating a mature, clean, and organised atmosphere for them.
The first step is
to get rid of all the old stuff! The clean out process may not seem as fun as
the redecorating stage, but try making it more enjoyable for you and your teen
by listening to some music you both like. Then, start the job by focusing in
one corner of the bedroom and gradually work your way out. Take a look at everything
around the room and as you sort through everything ask if your teen truly needs it. Does it add value to their life? If they cannot
put their finger on what kind of value it adds to their life then they need to
question keeping it. When it comes to the wardrobe, get rid of clothing that
your teen has not recently. Put dresses or nice shirts on hangers and place
t-shirts on shelves. You may find it helpful to add shelves into
the wardrobe instead of stacking clothes into high towers. Once the room is
cleaned out and you are left with only the items that you are keeping, then it's
time to redecorate! Teenage years are an important
time for a person to learn how to manage their time and responsibilities. Many
teenagers find it extremely difficult to transition from primary school, where
they receive a managable amount of homework a week, to high school, where the work can be quite stressful and voluminus. This new lifestyle demands for the student to be organised and efficint. When doing a teen's bedroom, it is
very important that you set up a desk and study area for them to work
efficiently.
Place book shelves next to or above the desk. Your teen should have a binder and a
magazine holder for each subject. The binder should be used for
class notes and handouts, and the folder should be for any loose paper until filed in the binder. The actual desk area
should have as little as possible clutter to help your teen stay focused and organized when
working. Some good supplies inlcude a pencil cup, a calendar, binder index dividers, a label maker, extra lighting, and a recyling bin.
The key
to any successful work place is strategy and organisation. It's that simple!
Take a little time to implement some organisation in their bedroom and study place to ensure that your teen feels in control of their schoolwork.
