| FAMILY-FRIENDLY KUNG FU FILM |
 |
A family-friendly and action adventure comedy,
Adventures of Johnny Tao: A Kung-Fu
Fable combines
elements of Arthurian legend, Chinese philosophy,
and rock-a-billy music.
Desperate to save his family’s struggling small-town
gas station, Johnny Dow charges passing motorists
a dollar to see the electric guitar used by his late
father, a one-hit-wonder rock-a-billy singer. Carved
in the shape of a dragon’s head, the guitar was made
from part of an ancient spear his father found in the
crater of a shooting star.
Unfortunately, nobody seems very interested in a
forgotten singer’s legacy, and Johnny is on the verge
of bankruptcy. When he prepares to sell the station
and move, his best friend Eddie makes other plans.
Scouring the desert for UFO parts to attract tourists
and newspaper attention to the town, Eddie
stumbles upon the other half of the mysterious
spear. He eagerly digs it up, releasing an ancient
demon hungry for power and destruction.
Inhabited by the evil spirit, Eddie returns to town,
beats up the local motorcycle gang, sucks out their
energy, and turns them into sugar-craving demons.
Demonized Eddie begins to take over the town,
ultimately setting his sights on the world.
But Johnny stands in his way. Even with his friends
disappearing and townspeople fleeing in terror,
Johnny refuses to back down. As the donut-eating
demon army grows, Johnny is joined by the visitor
Mika, a beautiful Chinese warrior who holds the
secret to fighting Eddie and his band of underworld
soldiers. She reveals that only one thing can stop
the evil spirit possessing his friend— the first half of
the spear, the dragon on Johnny’s guitar.
Together, Johnny and Mika set out to fight Eddie
and his kung-fu demons, reunite the two halves of
the spear, restore peace to the town, and hopefully--
save the world!
