How the Grinch Stole Sales!


 

Coping with Seasonal Sales Swings.

The holidays are a wonderful time to focus on family and friends.  Unfortunately though for some businesses such as learning institutions that can mean less emphasis on education as the priorities shift. 

If you find your business in this predicament consider the following tried and tested solutions:

Create off-season demand:

Find ways to create demand for your products or services during slow periods. Consider offering discounts or pre-season sales to generate income.

This is a wonderful time of year to send a holiday newsletter, which could also include coupons or announcements for savings on additional courses, referral promotions or promotions to customers who have inquired in the past but not enrolled.

Use slow time to strengthen relations:

Are there additional services you could offer during slow times to promote your business?  Consider a holiday open house for students, families and friends, adjusting class times to suit shopping hours, or simply a holiday party for all your existing customers. 

This is also a wonderful time to consider strengthening your relations with staff by providing additional trainings.  Brain storming ideas to promote business for the New Year is a creative way to involve the staff, reinforce their importance with your organization and provide you with valuable input that may lead to successful advancements in business.

Become an expert in your industry:

Slower times, offer many businesses the opportunity to visit other schools to promote their business, provide speaking services on the benefits of further education or volunteer at related businesses and associations.   This is also a great time to connect with fellow entrepreneurs to learn or share new ideas that may progress your business growth.

Use the time to plan:

What will January bring?  Every business owner and employee often have their days so packed with   activity it is difficult to think beyond the present.  Use slower times to consider what promotions you could prepare, such as "100% acceptance Crelogix financing programs" or campaigns that may engage potential students and families by inspiring them to consider further education as a New Year resolution.

Consider how you can promote your business by maximizing the extra time you may have; promotions such as discounts or offering affordable payments with in-house financing. We all have lofty goals for wanting to bring in new business.  However the seasonality of businesses can sometimes prevent us from achieving them if we do not plan ahead.  The good news is businesses who are creative in their approach can strive during these times.
