5 Ideas to Increase Sales
Looking
for ways to increase your enrollments?
How
much time and effort do you spend finding new customers?
Why
not try shifting your focus more from trying to find ways to expand your
customer base with new customers to enticing your existing customers to buy
again? After all, the best prospect and easiest
sale will come from someone that has already bought in to and sees the benefits
of your services. Here
are some suggestions on how to make "up selling" a success: 1. Create a
sales incentive: Give your
staff one more reason to "keep their eye on the prize" and want to enroll,
enroll and enroll! And money is not
always the motivating factor when thinking about incentives. Contests and prizes are great ways to promote
competition and excitement within your organization, create recognition for
going beyond the company's expectations, and provide clear goals for
individuals.
2.
Encourage
and educate your staff on up selling: For an existing customer to buy more lessons
or enroll in additional courses, or simply refer others to your business, they
have to be persuaded of the benefit for them. How frequently will you re-visit a student's progress? Are you addressing new programs and services
at these meetings? How do you stay in
touch with students and their families after graduating? Are you keeping them informed of other
services you offer that may be of interest to them or even a friend of theirs?
3.
Provide
your customer the inside scoop: If you have a potential client inquiring about your services, let them
know if you are going to be running any promotions the next week, or following
month. For example, have you ever
shopped at a retail store, where they tell you at the till the item you are
purchasing is scheduled to be on sale next week? I have and guess what? Depending on the store's policy I will either
purchase and bring my receipt in the following week or just make a note to come
in next week. The inside scoop will help
incent exiting clientele to think seriously about additional services if they
know they are getting a deal.
4.
Set up a
student and family rewards program: Offer a free lesson to those who re-purchase
additional services. Offer cash or a
discount for referrals. Encourage your
existing clientele not just to consider additional courses themselves but to
speak of your services to others.
5.
Distribute
free samples to customers: Provide students the opportunity to attend a free class on another
subject or additional hours if committing to the full program. Offer free samples of what it would be like
to attend your facility by inviting the family of existing students to attend
an open house, to meet and greet the staff and others who have attended. Attracting
new customers is always great and a must. But shifting your thinking to ways of enticing current customers to grow
enrollments and revenue is much easier. And best of all helps build customer loyalty.
