Brother ,
There's always time for new members... isn't there? For many of our chapters and colonies with formal recruitment programs, those weeks have passed and the fall is in full swing. That does not mean that recruitment is over. In fact... you now have more members to help! Recruitment is a continuous process... there is still time for new men to be introduced to Delta Chi. You may think... "our fall associate member program has already started!" Well, here is an easy solution: if have a few more men who are wanting to join, consider having a second fall class! The point is to get these men involved NOW instead of waiting until the spring. If you wait... they may find something else. Keep recruiting! In the Bond, ![Zac Cole Signature](http://ih.constantcontact.com/fs024/1100405892336/img/29.jpg?a=1102797432441)

I'm Life Loyal... Are You?
Why I became a Life Loyal Member of Delta Chi:
"The principle purpose of the Life Loyal program is to provide Delta Chis a way to recommit themselves to the Fraternity and enjoy the benefits that come with it. Just as it was an exciting decision to become a Founding Father of my Chapter, the decision to be a Life Loyal member will ensure that we will continue to make Delta Chi, "The Brotherhood of a Lifetime." The winning team earned the title of "Top Dog" by eating 36 hot dogs as a group in the allotted time. The contest took place Friday afternoon in the basement of His House Church. Delta Chi Named "Mr. Georgia Tech"
Excerpt from Technique School Newspaper: During half-time of the annual homecoming game last weekend, Robert Ellis, a fifth-year CEE and Kaitlyn Frazier, a fourth-year BMED were named Mr. and Ms. Georgia Tech, respectively. Both were nominated by their respective Greek organization (Delta Chi and Alpha Delta Pi) and underwent a rigorous selection process, including interviews, presentations, and talent shows. "Just being with so many other people that love the school as much as I do, just being associated with those people is a pretty big honor," Ellis said. "I think it's humbling to be part of the [selection] process." "It was a complete shock and definitely an honor to be considered by my fellow... Finish this article online!

Iowa Chapter Dedicates New Library
Homecoming Open House Showcases Library and House Renovations
![Iowa Library](http://ih.constantcontact.com/fs024/1100405892336/img/161.jpg?a=1102797432441)
![Iowa Library Dedication](http://ih.constantcontact.com/fs024/1100405892336/img/166.jpg?a=1102797432441) Over 100 Iowa Chapter alumni and friends gathered on the brisk afternoon of October 10th at the Iowa Chapter house to honor Brother Michael New (Iowa '64). When Iowa Delta Chi alumni speak of this man, some common themes emerge from the conversation. Words like "role model, authentic, thoughtful, integrity, accomplished and humble" are frequently used to describe Brother New who passed away in April of 2006. In the midst of other Chapter house renovations, the Chapter specifically honored New by naming a renovated lounge in his honor titled: The Michael New Memorial Library. By selecting New as the honoree, a respectable number of alumni, family, friends, University officials and Delta Chi representatives were on hand to pay tribute to a man worthy of the honor. ![Iowa Library 1](http://ih.constantcontact.com/fs024/1100405892336/img/162.jpg?a=1102797432441) New served as President of the University of Iowa Foundation (1998-2005) when that organization held its "Good, Better, Best Campaign'" raising over $1 billion dollars for the University of Iowa. During his undergraduate years, New served as the "A" of the Iowa Chapter in 1963. As an alumnus, he was a member the House Corporation, and also provided alumni oversight for the Iowa Chapter. Renovations to the Library included the installation of attractive French doors, upgraded electrical and computer capabilities and the purchase of library and conference room furniture. In addition to the Library, renovations were made in the kitchen, dining hall and various sleeping rooms throughout the Chapter house.

Delta Chis Summit Mt. Whitney
![Summit Team](http://ih.constantcontact.com/fs024/1100405892336/img/160.jpg?a=1102797432441) During early September, four seniors in the chapter took up the challenge of conquering the highest peak in the contiguous United States. Brothers Adam Arnold, Douglas Rieck, Eric Van Aelstyn and Chase Warner climbed Mt. Whitney in the Sierras in eastern California on Saturday, September 12. The brothers planned and trained for the event for several months. The trail to the top is about 24 miles round trip and rises just under 7,000 vertical feet. The team they were part of included Brother Warner's father and aunt (both of whom have climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa), four Navy SEALS, an Army Ranger and a Marine helicopter pilot. The team set out at about 4 a.m. and hit the summit five hours and 37 minutes later. (Considering that ten hours is a respectable time for novices, which is what the brothers were, and seven hours is good for intermediate climbers, the guys made great time on what was probably the most demanding day of their lives.) The group made it back down the mountain with time to spare to catch the USC-Ohio State game and as Brother Rieck put it, "At dinner that night, we toasted two incredible victories." The picture above shows the four brothers at the summit with their Delta Chi burgee.
