KEEP A CLEAR MIND
I have read and recently heard conversations on
these two topics. I think they are one in the same!
So let me tell you about what I have coursing
through my veins and mind!
‘Blocking Out Distractions’ means successful
‘FOCUS’!
‘Keeping A Clear Mind’ means successful
‘FOCUS’!
Over the three decades of teaching mechanics and
the mental side, especially ‘Course
Management’, which is just ‘Applied
Experience’, (an effective workable plan and the
mental discipline to apply it), I have come to a few
conclusions! My wonderful left seat hours high in the
thin cold air (been high a lot) taught me about the
power of ‘Check Listing’. Your ‘555 TEAM’
applies this discipline to our golf regimen every day -
'Every Swing'!
If one has a ‘PRE SHOT ROUTINE’ (‘PSR’ - a
specific type of ‘Check List’), it is necessarily running
through one’s mind when being applied!
That very ‘PSR’ process utilizes the active mind and
thus ‘Blocks Out Distractions’, which are always
inactive until allowed in by us! ‘PSR’
enhances ‘FOCUS’. How many thoughts (‘Mental
Tasks’) can you do at one time? ‘PSR’ invites
your ‘Spirit’ to enact its ‘Universal’ magic!
The ‘Check List Process’ used properly,
actually ‘Clears Your Mind’ as well. It
enhances ‘FOCUS’ on a current, loaded and
active ‘Present Tense ‘Process’. This
prevents lapse in to the ‘Past or Future’
‘Outcome Golf’). That blocks ‘Anxiety and
FEAR’, two detractors from and destructors of good
swings! ‘Process Golf’ reins supremely!
The ‘Check List Process’ builds ‘Trust &
Confidence’. ‘PSR’ unavoidably ‘Elevates Our

If you have not mastered the finesse 'Lob Wedge'
(one of the most demanding precise procedures in
golf), select a 'Bump & Run', which is more like a
big 'Putt With A Loft or Clubhead Induced Hop'
followed by a lot of roll. It is simple and more
mechanical than finesse! Play to your strengths.
Minimize risks!
