ALIGNMENT: This topic is about your ‘Golf Railway Tracks’! They are parallel ribbons of steel that never get either closer or farther apart.

The ball sits on the front rail and the feet on the back so that our chests face the ball.

The front one is called the ‘Target Line’. The one we stand on is called the ‘Foot or Body Line’.

This ‘Body Rail’ never points at the flag or target in straight ball flights. It is ‘Aligned Parallel Left or High Energy Side’.

Their separation adjusts automatically relevant to the length of the ‘Golf Club’ so that we can ‘Comfortably’ extend our arms and set the ‘Sole Of The Club’ on the top of the ‘Target Rail’. Keep this picture and analogy in mind! It will never let you down.

‘Alignment’ is a key element of your ‘Lower Body Machine’ (‘LBM’) function. There are three optional ‘Alignments’ that relate to the ‘Rails’. These are 1) OPEN (‘Brace Foot Closer to the Target Line than the Target Foot’), 2) SQUARE (‘Both Feet Equidistant’) and 3) CLOSED (‘Target Foot Closer To the Target Line than the Brace Foot’). ‘Open Promotes Pivot Release’! Square less so! Closed inhibits the turning your body towards the ‘Target’ and thus promotes relatively ‘Faster Hands’ to the ‘Body’.

Remember that ‘A Hook Is Fast Hands on an Inside Out Clubhead PATH’.

A ‘Closed Alignment’ that intends to strike a ‘Ball’ straight at the ‘Target’ is really quite doomed to suffer from what ‘Tour Players’ call ‘The Dreaded Double Cross’. A common negative outcome of this ‘Set-Up’ error is the ‘Pull’ or ‘Pull Hook’. It is a rather nasty bed-fellow! Learn to avoid this error simply by properly ‘Setting Up Your Alignment’! The process is called ‘Pre Shot Routine’ (‘PSR’).

‘Alignment’ is quite different from ‘Stance’ and you are best served viewing them as such. It is a very common error by ‘Golf Instructors’ to look upon these ‘Elements’ as synonymous. They are not!
