Greetings!

Have you heard the news? Merrimack's men's hockey team is making headlines on the ice, and we were recently ranked #1 in the country. Plus we are the smallest school in all of Division I college hockey.

Speaking of athletics, we also just announced the creation of men's and women's swimming for the 2012-2013 season. Merrimack will compete in the Northeast-10 conference in both men's and women's swimming and will participate in the 2013 Northeast-10 Championship meet.  In just two years, Merrimack has increased its number of intercollegiate sports from 16 to 24 sports.

As we wrap up another semester here at Merrimack, students are finishing their classes and studying hard for finals before heading home for a well-deserved break. On behalf of the entire Merrimack community, we wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas season!

Student Spotlight

Chris FriotChris Friot, Class of 2012, recently accepted a position as a Tax Consultant for Deloitte. Chris is an accounting major who participated in the Alumni Mentoring program his freshman year. The mentor he received encouraged him to do an internship at First Investors, where he spent the majority of sophomore year.

Chris says that, "working here helped me to build valuable skills, as well as build my resume. This was a turning point in my college career." Chris then took on a second internship at the publicly traded company Mercury Computer Systems.

These opportunities, along with determination and a strong academic track record, helped Chris land a job at Deloitte, currently ranked #1 of the Big 4 accounting firms. Chris begins his position when he graduates in May 2012.

Giving Back

TKETKE-in-a-Box

The gentlemen of Tau Kappa Epsilon braved the elements in the cold and continued their yearly tradition of living outside in a box for a good cause.

TKE, one of two fraternities on campus, raised over $2,000 (the most ever!) to benefit both the Bread and Roses Homeless Shelter in Lawrence as well as the Ronald Reagan Alzheimer's Association.

Thanksgiving Basket Drive
Thanksgiving Basket Drive
Merrimack's Campus Ministry team coordinated this year's Thanksgiving Basket Drive and helped local families enjoy a delicious thanksgiving meal. Three vans were filled with over 70 baskets for families in need!

The Thanksgiving Basket Drive partners with an organization called Neighbors in Need, which serves at-risk families and youth in Greater Lawrence by providing food, clothing, and other necessities.
