"We Make Linen Interesting!"

 linen lingo
Greetings!

As October sets in we are starting to gear up.  Gear up for the holiday's that is!  That's right they're right around the corner, and will be here before we know it.  Our table linen rental will get very hectic, and a lot of customer's will need extra linen's including table linen, towels, and aprons to get through the busy season.  I urge you to contact us well ahead of time to get your orders in now to ensure availability of the certain sizes and colors you may need.

Maybe you don't know what exactly you need yet.  We understand that, but as soon as you get all the info just call our office, and speak to one of our live receptionist Kim or Mary and they'll be glad to take care of your request!

Along with getting ready for your needs we also start planning how we will most effectively service the routes during these holiday's.  There are a lot of you that close during the holiday's and we do try to plan accordingly to service every customer without interruption.  If you have questions about how the holiday's will be ran just get with your route service representative, and he'll be sure you're notified of the schedule.  However, as that time draws near we will be sending out notifications on your holiday delivery schedule.

A new american bistro creating seasonal cuisine with local products

We have concentrated on the flavors of our region by using quality ingredients from neighboring farms. This has afforded us the opportunity to embrace whole animals with nose-to-tail cooking.

Our mission is to bring our guests back to a time where you knew where your food came from as well as the farmers that worked so hard to raise sustainable and ethical products.

The menus change daily to reflect what is in season and available locally.

We pride ourselves on everything we do in house:
butchering, charcuterie, condiments, pasta, bread and pastries.

Located on The Hill....Five Bistro is known for its commitment to local ingredients, but its dishes aren't typical farm-to-table fare. Delicate preparations and sophisticated plating make Five Bistro a refined choice.

Menu selections depend on the availability of ingredients, and everything is made in-house. Executive chef Anthony Devoti tops sweet potato blinis with mildly salty trout caviar made from Troutdale Farm roe and a tuft of Claverach Farm micro greens. Pickled cauliflower adds the right tang and crunch to balance the dish. Living Water Farms' romaine is roasted and served in a deeply flavored mushroom-sage broth with Benne Farm's bacon and sweet compressed apple. Angel Acres' saddle of lamb is served with polenta, Brussels sprouts and Claverach Farm field greens.

THE OFFICE...
Don't you just love hearing "Hello, how may I help you?"

office staff

 Mitch, Kim and Mary!

You may not recognize their faces, but I bet you know their voices.

When you call our office you will ALWAYS get a live person, and NEVER hear (press 1 for this or press 2 for that!)  That's right Mitch, Kim or Mary will answers all calls coming into our office @ (800)-533-5670.

Kim has nearly 10 years with Tipton Linen.  Starting as office receptionist, she is now our office manager.  Kim fields almost half of our calls coming in which is a huge task along with handling all Human Resources and many other responsibilities.  However, she has a great team assembled in the office (Mary, receptionist  who takes most special orders called in and the majority of the other half of all calls and Mitch, who handles our accounts payable, receivable and payroll.)

The office team is great about getting all necessary info out to the sales and service team as soon as any customer calls in for whatever the reason may be.  Hats off to the office team!

If you happen to call our office anytime soon... congratulate them on a job well done!

Thanks office team!  Your great work is greatly appreciated!!!

Differentiate and Dominate!

-Don't do what everyone else is doing!

This month for Differentiate and Dominate has a  good story and ideas that may be useful to you-you can never be too organized when it comes to using your minutes well.

There is never enough time, unless you're serving it.
~Malcolm Forbes

How does a project get to be a year behind schedule?
One day at a time.
~Fred Brooks

Besides active listening, the second most important skill for successful leaders is time management. A common refrain heard when talking about great leaders is "how do they manage to do it all?" The secret is effectively using every minute of every day. There are 525,600 minutes in a year. How well do you use each one?  I can't say that I'm the greatest, but I'm getting better.

I learned the value of a minute in the Army, during my basic training. Basic is an intense training period when you are introduced to the military way of life. During the three months, you are purposefully required to do much more than can be physically done in the time allotted. One of my favorite exercises during basic (note my sarcasm) was "uniform races." All the privates are lined up in the hall. Our drill Sergeant would yell out a uniform and a time ("Class A's..Two minutes. Go."). You are required to race back to your room/locker area, change into that uniform, and return within the specified time. Sometimes, you are required to take a shower or shave in between changing. Other times, you will be given instructions to put on different combinations of uniforms. For the first few uniform races, very few privates make it back in time. But, as our time in basic training progressed, we learned how to optimize and shave seconds off each step in the process. You start off thinking that you could never change in two minutes, and end up finding out that you can do it with time to spare. You find out just how much you can do in two minutes.

I learned the value of uniform races not long after we started, even though I hated it.  I also saw the value when I entered the business world, and often had to get from a business meeting or running a service route and have to get home in time to change  clothes for dinner or ball practice with my kids.
A few of my learnings regarding time management are:

* Prioritize, prioritize, prioritize. Some people use an "A, B, C" system, while others use different symbols or time periods. No matter what you use, you have to make decisions about what needs to be done first.

* Review your items first thing in the morning and last thing in the evening. This gives you a plan for the day, and then feedback about how well you executed on your plan.

* Schedule time for the "important" as well as the "urgent." Oftentimes, urgent items crowd out important items, but you must not forget about all the small important details.

Payoff:

A full, rich, rewarding life with accomplishments beyond measure!
