The Month of May at the Cafe
It has been a busy month here, my email list got bigger :-) thanks guys!
Blues Night with The Barrelhouse Ladies had a great turn out! The ladies brought Lamont Harris, a harmonica player and proceeded to bring the house down!
May 4th's Jazz Night had a house full with a Birthday Party for the founder of "RGW"!  RGW is the acronym for Retirees Gone Wild, you can see how these wonderful ladies party here RGW Birthday Party
Jan. 21, 2010 my daughter, Marni was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Since then on the 1st Sunday in May we have participated in the Walk MS. Joining others who walk to create a world free of MS! Until May 31st your donation will be doubled! Read about it here MS 2x
After our 3 mile walk we headed over to the Icon theater to see the Avengers!
Tomorrow is Mother's Day and my kids are still trying to figure out what to get me...I asked if I could have a personal assistant...I'm just saying! LOL
Later this month Nato is coming to town and I've been asked a gazillion times if I'm going to stay open. Pros, I could make more $$. Cons, deliveries may not get through, no parking for customers, trouble may walk through the door or window and I'd have to deal with it..wait some of that might be a pro..lol So, the answer is YES I will be open! Friday we will close at 3pm but Saturday is Spoken Word and I am NOT canceling that! You got the news 1st! Friday 18 May 8am-3pm, Saturday 19 May 8-8pm.

There are so many great Jazz artist whose roads lead them to Chicago, many got their big start right in Bronzeville!
Mr. B, as he was often referred to, is just one of them. Billy began his Chicago stint with Earl "Fatha" Hines in 1939, joining the Grand Terrace Orchestra at The Sunset Ballroom, 3955 South Parkway, now known as Martin Luther King Drive. The Sunset Ballroom was renamed The Grand Terrace Ballroom 315-17 E. 31st

Do you have a quick and easy recipe you'd like to share? OK, maybe it might not be so easy or quick but try to keep prep time under 30 mins. and ready for eating time less than a day! I mean if it's really good no one will want to wait long to dive in! Drop your palate, pleasing recipe in an email to me and lets get the cooks out there working!
Keep on being Jazzy but remember to Take Five!
