January 2012
Welcome to the new year!

Have you embarked on the New Year with a list of optimistic resolutions? Have you started January with a sense of hope and renewed energy?

At the Canadian Women's Foundation we have.

We are celebrating with resolutions of getting physically active to end violence against women, reaching our Women Moving Women campaign goal and always learning from women whose personal journeys inspire us all.

Thank you for being an important part of the Canadian Women's Foundation family as we kick-off 2012 together.

Happy New Year!

Where will you be in 5 years? Bring one woman with you.

If one of your resolutions is getting your financial house in order, consider including an investment that will help a low-income woman get back on her feet.

Catherine
Catherine sees a better future for her and her sons.

You can help us reach our goal of 2,500 people pledging $2,500 to help move 2,500 women on their journey out of poverty.

By joining the Women Moving Women campaign for just $41.70/month over five years, your gift will provide a woman with a life-changing opportunity to participate in a Canadian Women's Foundation-funded program. She'll develop the skills, resources, and confidence she needs to lift herself out of poverty and toward a brighter future for herself and her family.

Watch the stories of women who have benefitted from these programs and sign up today. For more information about how you can get involved, contact Leigh Naturkach.

One woman's resolutions lead to endless possibilities

EarringsAfter escaping an abusive relationship, Cheryl had to start all over. She literally didn't have a chair to sit on. Still reeling from the impact of the abuse, she couldn't find a steady job.

When she heard about Enterprising Women, a training program for low-income women who were interested in starting their own business, she knew it was a step in the right direction.

Why invest in women and girls?

We often get asked "why is investing in women and girls so important"

Here are the key reasons we focus on women and girls:

  • Improving gender equality improves economic and social conditions for everyone.
  • Women and girls deserve a chance for a better life-free from violence, poverty, and rigid stereotypes that limit their potential.
  • Women and girls face different kinds of economic and social challenges, which require different kinds of solutions.
  • Helping women and girls is cost effective and creates very successful outcomes.

Find out more about why helping women and girls is not only the right thing to do but also an intelligent investment in a better future.
