The Urban Renewal Section, as part of its
GTA marketing focus, has produced a short animated video advertising living, working and playing in Downtown Hamilton to a GTA audience.  

The video has been featured on Global News Toronto, Yahoo
Canada and NewsTalk 1010 in Toronto amongst other media outlets.

LiON's Lair 2012 - $100,000 Up For Grabs

The City of Hamilton's Small Business Enterprise Centre is proud to announce its partnership with Innovation Factory and the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce on the 2012 LiON's Lair - a celebration of entrepreneurship in Hamilton! 


LiON'S LAIR provides Hamiltonians with the opportunity to experience the thrill of start-up investment as aspiring entrepreneurs and innovators face a panel of Hamilton's top business executives and solicit up to $100,000 to get their companies off the ground.

 

From 60+ applicants, ten finalists will be selected to pitch their idea to a panel of experts in a television studio environment.  The video shorts will be presented at the LiON'S LAIR investment forum at Carmen's Banquet Centre, where $100,000 in cash and in-kind prizes may be awarded at the discretion of the panel.

 Local Gaming Company is Making its Mark!

Snakehead Games Inc (SHG) is the maker of the popular browser-based social games, Star Pirates (www.starpirates.net) and 2165 Spy Battle (www.spybattle.com). Founded in 2008 and headquartered in Hamilton, Snakehead Games is expanding. The firm has most recently launched the Word Nerds mobile tap and spell game for iPhone and Android Mobile devices. Snakehead Games Inc has also announced a new writing contest set in "StarCrash Universe". Budding writers and sci-fi fans are invited to showcase their creative writing talents to win cash prizes and an opportunity to see their work in publication.

 

"The contest is set in SHG's own StarCrash universe, a thought-provoking and many-faceted cyberpunk look at a future dominated by artificial intelligence and scarcity of resources", said Colin Ferguson, Director of Marketing at SHG. "This universe is the setting for SHG's browser-based MMOs: Spybattle 2165 and Star Pirates". The contest will continue through August 31, 2012, midnight (EST). Submissions should be sent via email to [email protected].
