Storm Sewer Construction

Minneapolis Public Works is planning to rebuild the storm sewer in the alley behind Thomas Ave S and Dean Parkway.

This project will reduce surface flooding in the alley and remove sediment before it enters the lagoon by installing a grit chamber. The work will start the week of July 30th and is expected to end by Oct 3rd.

During that time, the intersection of Thomas and Dean Parkway will be detoured, but local access will be maintained for residents of the area.

More information is available on the project webpage

Calhoun-Isles Area Sewer Improvements Project

Construction on the Calhoun-Isles Area Sewer Improvements project is underway and is scheduled
to be completed later this year.

Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (MCES), operator of the metro-area wastewater collection and treatment system is working to replace a portion of a regional sewer through the Cedar-Isles-Dean and East Isles neighborhoods.

Work to be completed in 2012 encompasses an area from just west of Dean Parkway to just east of East Calhoun Parkway.  This is part of a larger project to rehabilitate or replace a regional sanitary sewer that provides service to Hopkins and portions of St. Louis Park and Minneapolis.

Click here to download a pdf of the construction schedule.

The Midtown Greenway will be open during construction; however, there will be some detours and ramp closures. Click here for trail impact information.

For more information, please contact MCES staff:

Additional information is available on the Metropolitan Council website: metrocouncil.org/sewerconstructionupdates
