Why Serialize?

Businesses are already investing in serialization pilots and technologies due to industry and legislative pressures. However, those companies that do not take an enterprise approach to serialization are missing out on tremendous opportunity to optimize material flow, gain insight, and allow for process improvements throughout the supply chain.
Acsis, Inc.'s CTO John DiPalo examines the reasons why you shouldn't wait until 2015 to begin to serialize your packaging lines. See how you can get the most out of your ERP system to track data and improve processes across the shop floor - from receiving to production, quality management, warehouse management, shipping and distribution and third-party processing.

Is Your Company Ready for Recall?
|
"The truth is most companies aren't ready for a recall, which can cost a manufacturer upward of $80 million per event." -- John DiPalo, Chief Technology Officer for Acsis, Inc.
Today's supply chains are more far-reaching than ever and being stretched to the limit. As we all know, a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. The longer the supply chain the greater the risk for a problem. Although the industry and government - like the FDA - have mechanisms in place to monitor food safety, they are not foolproof. Products can hit shelves quicker than ever, yet pulling them off can take weeks.
We recently launched our new recall management initiative with a story entitled, "5 Scary Facts about Product Recalls," which received national attention. The story was featured on nearly 3,000 Web sites such as Yahoo Finance, The New York Daily News, The Boston Globe, CBS Money Watch, as well being featured on local news sites throughout the country including NBC, ABC and CBS.
The article reveals five little-known facts about product recalls, such as how recalled products are probably sitting on store shelves right now, and how not all product recalls make the news. Educate yourself on the hidden dangers of recalled products and see how Acsis, Inc. can help protect your brand against such detrimental events. Read more here.

"Do More With Less" Series: Effectively Managing Your Outside Resources

Coordinating outsource resources - whether around the corner or around the world - is more important than ever. Managers need to effectively coordinate production requirements, shipping and receiving dates, and item level identification for tracking and tracing purposes.
Acsis, Inc. can help by providing a web-based portal to your suppliers and third-party manufacturers and packagers so that your outside vendors have the ability to keep you updated while securing your system from outside access. Companies will finally have the automated data collection process in place to collect context data such as lot number and item-level serial number data, to support product recalls and chargebacks.

Aberdeen Study

Earlier this month Aberdeen Research Group released its much anticipated Chief Supply Chain Officer survey. This survey collected information from almost 200 companies and delivered some valuable insights into what many CSO's are looking for in the New Year.
With an ever-increasing number of suppliers, customers, carriers and countries in global supply chains, it is easy to see the importance of "collaborative synchronization between all parties." Some highlights of the study show:
- 78% of executives indicated improving extended supply chain visibility is a top priority;
- Executives had the highest ROI expectations for supply chain visibility, supply chain network design and labor management software, with most expecting an ROI within about 18 months;
- 29% of discrete companies expect payback from these technologies within one year.
Our ProducTrak Partner Management solution leverages real-time visibility into your partner operations for collaboration with external suppliers, manufacturers, distributers, and logistics providers to effectively manage your complex network. This helps you reduce costs and improve overall supply-chain responsiveness, velocity, and efficiency.

2012 Supply Chain Predictions

Every year the Ferrari Consulting and Research Group and Supply Chain Matters team up to give us their supply chain predictions for the New Year. They take input from clients, thought-leaders, and other supply chain and blogosphere observers into heavy consideration while reflecting on future implications and 2011's activities. Stay ahead of the curve by preparing your team in establishing new programs, initiatives, and educational agendas.
This year, partner visibility is king. If you've read our Supply Chain Crisis and Disaster Management blog post, you'd know how uncertain 2011's supply chain was (and is continuing to be) on a global level. Many supply chains are in a fragile state, and with the Holiday season over, many businesses are anxious for a fresh start in 2012.
Click here to read about the most important predictions and see how Acsis, Inc. has already started alleviating many of these New Year worries.
