Alfred P. Sloan Award Logo

Each year multiple Houston-area businesses win the coveted Alfred P. Sloan Award for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility. Using a scoring methodology that includes employees' views as well as employer practices in its scoring, the Sloan Awards honor organizations and worksites that are using workplace flexibility as a strategy to increase workplace effectiveness and yield positive business results, and to help employees succeed at work and at home. Winners are included in a full page ad in USA Today.  There are many contributing parties to this event, including the Sloan Foundation, the Twiga Foundation, The Families and Work Institute, and When Work Works.  Applicants come from more than 30 states.

The local award honors all applicants but gives special recognition to the winners of the award. Each year the award ceremony is held in the fall, honoring participants and awarding winners.
