| FOOD Sandbar Seafood Restaurant on Granville Island
With family in town to take part in the Grey Cup festivities, I had the pleasure to host a dinner at The Sandbar Seafood Restaurant on Granville Island. This is always one of my favorite spots to bring out of town guests and this experience did not disappoint. To start, we all had a cup of The Homemade Clam Chowder. Perfectly seasoned, this is one of the best Clam Chowders I have ever had! As entrees, two of my guests ordered from the fresh fish sheet. One had the Mahi Mahi, blackened and cooked to perfection with rice and vegetables with a side of seared scallops. My other guest had the Arctic Char. They were very impressed and claimed it was the best meal of the weekend. I went with a little variety and ordered a few items from their Tapas menu. I enjoyed my usual sweet and sour Wok Chicken, delicious with a perfect sticky sauce and also the Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps. Both had great flavours. Another great evening spent at the Sandbar.

WINE Botalcura Syrah Nebbiolo, Chili My in-laws just got back from a visit to South America and expressed their delight in the wines they had tasted. They suggested we try this great red wine from Chile, a Syrah/Nebbiolo blend: 65% Syrah and 35% Nebbiolo. We enjoyed it over a nice roast beef dinner. It has the taste of red fruits such as cherries, yellow plums, herbs and spices such as cilantro, fennel, accompanied by notes of oak. The palate is nicely dry, big and full of flavour. It has an intense color that harmonizes with the tannic strength and the fruity flavors of the Nebbiolo. It is priced at $24.99 and well worth it. We loved it!
