Here is the latest Vancouver Market update. It appears home sellers surpassed buyers in June, which helps to balance out our market from the beginning of the summer.

FOOD The Pourhouse Restaurant
This Gastown Restaurant (162 Water St.) has made its mark on the Vancouver dining scene since arriving in 2009. Located in a beamed-ceiling, brick walled heritage building this old fashioned saloon was inspired by the turn of the 20th century golden era of the cocktail. With a large selection of draft beer and a great cocktail list, this is the saloon bar to sit at to unwind after a long day. On our last visit, my wife loved the campfire trout ($18). It came served in a tinfoil tent and when pulled apart, the steam rose out in a savory cloud of dill and caramelized onions. I really enjoyed the Pork and white beans ($16). They are thickly stewed with tomatoes with a crackling hunk of pork belly. The cold rice pudding ($7), warmed up with sticky figs and hot caramel, brought the meal to a delicious finish. It is a great place to simply sit at the bar with a drink or enjoy a meal in their dining area.

WINE Domaine Notre Dames de Cousiniac My featured wine is a syrah/grenache blend from the Ardeche territory in France. It is listed for $13 but currently on sale at the BC liquor stores. This `vin rouge' is rich in fruit flavours of ripe dark cherry and plum with hints of spice, mocha and tobacco. Smooth and mellow with decent acidity. Good balance and style for food. It pairs well with grilled meats, pasta or cheeses. A great value! Click here for product information and availability. FEATURE PROPERTY |
