FOOD Asian Take Out

NOODLE BOX
Noodle Box

At the end of a hectic day and when I am too tired to cook, I always turn to takeout and usually Asian flavours.

One of my favourite places is Noodle Box; 1867 West 4th at Cypress.  www.thenoodlebox.net. They serve freshly made Asian style food, with reasonable prices made as quickly as possible. I highly recommend their Vietnamese Spring Rolls, the best I have ever had! Their spicy Peanut Noodle Box, with Indonesian-style peanut sauce, wok fried with peppers on ribbon noodles remains the most popular item on the menu.

When I crave sushi, my number one choice on the Westside is Jun Sushi; 3309 West Broadway at Blenheim. (604) 739-7181 This is a small place with only a few tables but the husband and wife team produce high quality rolls quickly and at a very reasonable price point.  Always fresh, the tuna sashimi melts in your mouth and the pork Gyoza's are cooked perfectly. I have ordered take out at Jun Sushi for the last 8 years and recently I have found myself there at least once a week drinking green tea while watching this hard working couple prepare beautiful and delicious glamour-free sushi.

 WINE  Liberty School

WINEMy feature wine is Liberty School Cabernet Sauvignon. www.libertyschoolwinery.com

At $22.99, it is great with barbequed steaks, beef stew and aged cheeses.

When you first smell this wine, you can definitely pick up on a few things such as oak, deep cherry, and a relaxing but firm tannin.  Everything about it is smooth, palatable, and pleasing. It is very drinkable, and noteworthy - there are many layers to its flavour, which make it all the more enjoyable. This is truly one of my favourite cabernet sauvignons.
