Please join us for a dinner with Ruth Messinger as we get together to discuss the global food crisis. A number of dishes in the supper will be prepared for the cost of the average weekly food expenditure of a Haitian family.

The program, open to all, is part of a Bnai Keshet Shabbat Havurah series focusing on Tikkun Olam ("repair of the world"), the congregation's Value in Action for the coming year.

Those who wish to join us for dinner are asked to register in advance.

Ruth W. Messinger, president of American Jewish World Service (AJWS), will talk about "Fighting Hunger in a World of Plenty: Repairing our Global Food System."

Friday night, December 9th
6PM         Dinner with Ruth Messinger
7:30PM   Service and Program

Please register if you are joining us for dinner so we know how many people to prepare for and to let us know if you plan to bring a dish to share.
Speaking about the politics of the global food crisis from her own experiences in developing countries, Messinger will explain how American Jews can pressure the government to reform food aid policies that exacerbate hunger and poverty. She will also highlight grassroots AJWS projects in Africa, Asia and the Americas, attesting to the transformative impact people can make as global citizens working for a more just world.
