Welcome Spring!
Hi Again,
Spring arrived early this year which is nice because so often we've gone from winter to summer without any Spring at all. Although I love to see the trees in bloom I hate the sneezing that they bring on. If you're like me and suffer from allergies, I have some tips to offer that should make you feel better. Another way to feel good is by getting a great massage. Some of you have had questions about different modalities. I have some answers. I also have a great special this month.
$50 for a 50 minute massage. Now that's a sweet deal. Enjoy the season and don't forget to smell the flowers (without sneezing)!     Laura
Springtime ~ Allergy time
woman sneezing
Does the thought of Spring make you sneeze? Instead of flowers do you see pollen? It's Hay Fever season. BTW - It doesn't come from hay and it isn't a fever. It's allergies. And what exactly are they? They are an abnormal reaction, such as sneezing to a harmless substance. Our immune system is overreacting. In Spring it's usually pollen from trees, grasses and weeds. There are medications but there are also homeopathic remedies. Try taking Butterbur, Quercetin, or Stinging Nettle. Always check with your doctor first, especially if you are pregnant or nursing. Vitamin C is a natural antihistamine which I have found effective. Nasal irrigation such as a Netty Pot or a saline spray may also help. Pollen collects in your hair so wash your hair after you've been outside on a windy day.

What is Swedish Massage?

neck massageI've had a few new clients with injuries ask me what kind of massage I offer. They were looking for deep tissue or therapeutic massage. Mainly they were looking for relief. I offer Swedish Massage and variations on that theme. Swedish Massage is often thought to be a relaxing massage that is good for reducing stress and nothing more. It is actually so much more. I like to divide all massages into two types. There is Swedish Massage, also know as Western Massage which works on the muscles. It can include Sports massage, Deep Tissue, Rolfing, Therapeutic Massage, Prenatal Massage and much more. The other type of massage is Eastern Massage which works mainly by moving energy. This can include Shiatsu, Tui Na, Amma, and Zero Balancing. There are also many others. When choosing a massage therapist it is important to look for someone with experience who will work with you and your needs. If you haven't had a massage in awhile take advantage of my special this month.
