Happy Valentine's Day
There are hearts everywhere this month. I always look forward to getting that heart shaped box filled with chocolates. If none is forthcoming I just buy one myself. It's one of those little pleasures that makes this cold month bearable. Valentines are also fun to get. Remember the paper ones we made in grade school for our moms? I have a friend who makes Valentines out of origami paper for her special friends. It's a real treat to get one. Yes, love is in the air. Flowers, champagne, candle lit dinners, valentines, chocolate and massage. Yes massage! If there's someone special in your life why not do something a little different and treat each other to a couple's massage? It's really special ( especially with my discount) and I'll include some chocolate too. Happy Valentine's Day!
With all this talk about love and hearts, let's not forget about the most important heart of all; the one that keeps us going. Since 1963 the American Heart Association has named February "Healthy heart Month". Did you know that heart disease is the #1 killer of women in the U S? It claims more women than men. This month make a commitment to learn more about the signs and symptoms of heart attacks in women. This is one case where ignorance is not bliss. Many women believe that heart attacks only happen to men and the elderly - not true. They also believe that the only symptoms are a crushing pain in the chest and pain down the left arm. Be aware that the signs of a heart attack in a woman can be very different than a heart attack in a man. If you have signs, pay attention. Call 911 and take an aspirin to prevent further clotting. Conditions that contribute to heart attacks are high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Stay healthy by watching your diet, exercising and avoiding excess stress.
