Greetings!

Hello! It's been quite some time since I've connected with you. How are you?

ak ikea 10-15-11I just did my second presentation at IKEA on how to organize your workspace and I want to share with you some of the great tips I shared with the audience.

Thank you to all of you who attended! Also, welcome to our many new subscribers. I'm glad you are here!

At the IKEA event I focused on 2 very important topics when it comes to maximizing productivity 1) Desk Layout and 2) Clearing Clutter.

I'm going to focus on desk layout here and give you a link to a previous newsletter with all the information you need to deal with desk clutter like a pro.

Until next time - Be organized, be energized, be extraordinary!

3 Ways To Maximize Your Workspace

The key to setting up a high performing workspace is to have everything you need at your fingertips. One way to achieve this is to make sure you have plenty of surface area near your desk so a) essential items like your printer,  inbox and supplies are always within reach and b) your desk remains open and clutter-free!

This will allow you to really concentrate on the task at hand and save you valuable time by not having to get up each time you need something! Below are 3 creative ways to help you maximize YOUR workspace.

Choose an L-Shaped Desk

One layout that I particularly like is the L-shaped desk. It gives you lots of space to do your work and the L part or "return" will help keep things like your printer, file sorter and supplies near you without crowding your main work area.

Add a console table

If you don't have an L-shaped desk and aren't in the market for a desk right now, don't worry. You can create a similar effect by adding a console table to your workspace. This will instantly give you more surface area and again, you can move things to your console table that you need within arm's reach but not necessarily on your desk. A console table is also great because you can tuck file cabinets underneath it for extra storage.

Add a Credenza or File Cabinets

Having your active files within arm's reach is a guaranteed way to be more efficient and productive at your desk. Files can be retrieved and put away much more easily than if you had to get up each time to get them.

Adding a credenza or a row of file cabinets to your workspace is a great way to create more surface space while ensuring that all your active and important files are at your fingertips!

So remember... to maximize your productivity and efficiency, create a workspace where everything you need is at your fingertips. Chose an L-shaped desk or use a console table, credenza or file cabinets to create that much needed surface space so you can free your desk up to do your best work ever!

  1. Baffled by how to set up your workspace?
  2. Do you feel like you are not as efficient or as productive as you could be?
  3. Is clutter and disorganization holding you back?
