The PULSE this week:

We Are Family

Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.
                               -- Colossians 3:14-15

Candlelight Christmas Eve Service: Spread the Word

This is a chance to invite friends and family to our wonderful Christmas Eve Service at 7:00 p.m. on Dec. 24. We love to sing the Christmas songs of old and remember Christmases past as we focus on Jesus Christ, the newborn king, our Savior. If this is not already a joyous "tradition" for you and your loved ones, please join us this year!

Operation Christmas Child: Overflowing!operation Christmas child

Thank you to our Missions Committee and to Kathie Roe for sharing with us about the Shoebox Ministry of Samaritan's Purse. There was a great response this year, with almost 200 decorated gift boxes filling up the church, and now being shipped to all parts of the world to children in need -- some who will receive a first gift ever! Many of you enjoyed giving this year for the first time, and some of you shared your experience in being a part of this ministry. Click to hear from fellow ASCers on our new Praises page.

Food Pantry in Need

Our food pantry, which is one way we serve and connect with people in our community, is low and in need of supplies. If you're able to bring pancake mix, peanut butter, jelly, canned meats (tuna or chicken), and mixes to go with them, your donations will be greatly appreciated by hungry families.

December Events at ASC

With the advent of our Savior's birth, there are many opportunities for celebration this month. Please note the details below:

  • There will be ONE MORNING WORSHIP service at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday, as well as CrossRoads at 6 p.m.
  • The Marriage Class will take a break in December.
  • The Bible 101 class is taking place at 11 a.m., following the morning service, on Dec. 4 and Dec. 18 only. The class is finishing up the study "Experiencing God" and will begin a study in the Book of Daniel after the New Year. Adults are welcome to join this class at any time and enjoy the fellowship.
  • The Children's Christmas Program "We Love You, Baby Jesus" will be presented at 9:30 a.m. on December 18.
  • Last but not least, our Young People (middle and high school) are planning a RAK (Random Acts of Kindness!) and will be doing the majority of packing for the Christmas food baskets after church on Sunday, Dec. 11.

three ornamentsChristmas Baskets

The Christmas food baskets need your help. The time is short for gathering all food items, and any you can donate will be greatly appreciated. Click to see a shopping list. If you want to donate but don't have time to shop, you can provide $30 for a 2-person basket or $38 for a basket that will serve a family of 4. Simply visit the display in the lobby to select your shopping voucher.

On Saturday, Dec. 17, 60 baskets will be delivered to families needing food. The list of families is being worked out now, so if you have a family name to submit, click here for a signup sheet or e-mail Becky Easter.
