Thanksgiving community plateREACH the World for Jesus

A Blessing to Many

We thank God for His faithfulness in all that resulted from the Thanksgiving outreach to our community. Many testified how they enjoyed serving (we had 75-plus volunteers), and others shared how the meals and mission gifts greatly blessed our guests. Click to read blessings from the day and to post your own.

The atmosphere inside the church was one of joy and excitement. Many of our young people and children waited tables cheerfully and mingled with guests. The music, the children's craft table, the abundance of food -- every detail worked out beautifully.

A big "thank you" goes to Lynn Sisler -- and the core committee -- for tireless work in making this event a memorable one for all of us in serving our Lord Jesus Christ. Lynn also gives a special "thank you" to all the people who participated in the giving, planning, serving, cooking, setup, cleanup, music, and reaching out to our guests.

Lynn wants to invite everyone to a church-wide Christmas Potluck on December 16 at 6:30 p.m. as a "thank you." Potluck by last name: A-J main dish, K-S side dish, and T-Z dessert. Dress in fun Christmas attire, and each family bring an inexpensive wrapped gift for a child, labeled with gender and age range.

Sunday Pickup: Bread trays, a generator, pots, pans, oven mitts, and other borrowed items from the Thanksgiving Community Dinner can be collected this Sunday. Most are in Room 6.

Food, Fellowship, and Christ's Life

Join us this Sunday evening for CrossRoads service and our Last Sunday of the Month Dinner. The meal theme is Thanksgiving Leftovers, of course! We are beginning a new topic series: The Life of Jesus. It's based on a harmony of the Gospels, which is a chronological merging of the four Gospels. CrossRoads is at 6 p.m., and our potluck dinner will be at 7 p.m.

Class Topics

Join us in class on Sunday mornings in Room 6. This week, we'll be meeting at 10:45 a.m. to discuss our church's involvement in God's "Kingdom Purposes." In December, classes will be held at 11 a.m. (after the 9:30 a.m. service); we'll wrap up our "Experiencing God" study by bringing the material to a personal and practical level in our daily lives.

Our class will be having a New Year's Eve celebration that is open to everyone at the church. Watch for more on these festivities coming soon. With the New Year comes a new study: the book of Daniel. What can we learn from Daniel's life? What has Daniel told us about the world we live in -- and the end times?

Look for a class display in the church lobby during December, and if you have questions about class, contact Dave Worth. Questions about the New Year's Eve mystery event go to Laurel Worth, (916) 729-2459.

Christmas Food Baskets

Many families are in serious financial difficulty this year, and we are expecting to distribute an unprecedented 60 Christmas food baskets. These supplies will bring a special blessing to parents, children, and seniors - our friends and neighbors. If you are able to help by donating canned, boxed, or other items, click to see a shopping list. Anything you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

We need all donations by December 11, only about two weeks from now. Food baskets will be ready for delivery on Saturday morning, December 17. If you would like to help with delivery or if you know of a family who should receive a basket, please contact Becky Easter. These families are in need of prayer as well as food, so please add them to your prayer list.
