New strategic plan gives focus

Image: Kawartha Conservation Strategic Plan With a new set of strategic goals, we now have a clear path to achieve our vision of "A sustainable watershed with clean and abundant water and natural resources assured for future generations."

We recently completed our 2012 to 2016 Strategic Plan after consulting with dozens of stakeholders from across the region over the past year.

Click here to download the plan (PDF, 2.7 MB).

In addition to our goals, our strategic actions place emphasis on protecting our lakes and water resources, partnering with the agricultural community to advance stewardship, and developing watershed science.

Help needed at Garlic Mustard pull on Thursday

Photo: Garlic mustardThe weather is looking up for a Garlic Mustard pull being hosted by the Invading Species Awareness Program.

Thursday, May 17
10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Ken Reid Conservation Area
277 Kenrei Rd., Lindsay

We'll be tackling a patch that we pulled last spring, and a new patch that has sprouted nearby.

If you'd like to help out, please register by contacting Fraser Smith at fraser_smith@ofah.org or 705.748.6324 ext. 234.

Experts will be on hand from the Invading Species Awareness Program, Ontario Invasive Plants Council, and Victoria Stewardship Council. They will give lessons on proper weed removal, and provide a forestry tour after the pull for those who are interested.

We will meet in the main public parking area across from the Kawartha Conservation Administrative Centre. Lunch is not provided, but there will be snacks, drinks, educational resources, gloves, and other required equipment. Please dress for working in the outdoors and appropriately for the weather.
