JUST BUFFALO EDUCATION

Announcing a special opportunity for girls entering 5th-8th grades

Just Buffalo is partnering with  Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart for Summerspace 2010!

A Book of Your Own: Poetry and Bookmaking

Work closely with a professional writer from Just Buffalo Literary Center, discovering new and creative ways to turn your ideas and dreams into poems. Specific lessons include: developing your writer's voice, composing a personal statement, exploring your inner personality and poetic sensibility. The camp will end with learning paper folding and bookbinding techniques to make your own handmade artist's book. Don't miss this chance to share your writing talents with family and friends!

June 28-July 2, PM Camp

Instructor: Margaret Konkol, Just Buffalo Literary Center

Margaret Konkol is a Ph.D. student in the Poetics Program at SUNY Buffalo. She received her M.A. from the University of Virginia and her B.A. from Reed College. Her poems have found homes in Small Press Collective, Rude Girl Press, Buffalo Vortex, Fusion and Love Factory.

FOR JUST BUFFALO MEMBERS

The Chautauqua Writers' Festival is a four day event at the beautiful Chautauqua Institution.  This year it takes place Thursday, June 17-Sunday, June 20.  We bring six nationally-recognized writers  (two fiction writers, two nonfiction writers, two poets).  Participants work in small-sized (12  students maximum) workshop settings with a writer in their genre; there are two hours of workshops each day of the festival.  The festival also offers one-on-one conferences with your workshop leader, panel discussions (on genre issues, publishing and other topics), open-mics, writing time, and music.

For our upcoming festival we are offering a special discount for members connected to a writing organization (like Just Buffalo):  $100 off tuition for up to two writers belonging to the group; if three or more from the group register, the discount is $150.

We still have spaces remaining in NONFICTION and POETRY. For more information on this year's writers and registration, please visit our website at:  http://writers.ciweb.org/writers-festival/  You can also call Philip Terman at (814) 786-7270 with any questions.
