Major General Brown

As we gather this week to give thanks I am reminde

d of how rewarding it is to serve our great nation. My family and I are settling in at Fort Benning, and already we feel welcome and see the pride with which Soldiers, families and civilians conduct themselves daily - making Fort Benning the greatest installation in the Army. For each and every one of you, I am thankful.

I wish safe travels as I know many of you will be leaving Fort Benning to be with family and friends this coming week. For those staying around post, I hope you find yourselves surrounded with support as I know being away from friends and family can be tough at this time of year. There are several places around post and in the tri community where you can enjoy a Thanksgiving meal.

I encourage you to keep safety in mind over the long holiday weekend.

Last week on our FaceBook page, we asked fans to share what they are thankful for. From Soldiers away from home training at Fort Benning and Soldiers who have come home safely from the battlefield, to our nation, the men and women of the Armed Forces, and the families who serve alongside them - it was great to see the appreciation conveyed in the messages.

If you haven't had a chance to post a message, it is not too late. Link

I am thankful for our veterans, the brave men and women who voluntarily defend our freedoms, and those who support our Army at war. One Force, One Fight!

Army Service Uniform: Out with the old, in with the blue

 Ask BRAC

Q.    What challenges is the MCoE facing with the BRAC implementation?

A.    We need to exercise all the new buildings on Harmony Church as soon as possible.  Because they're new, they're still under warranty by the contractor.  Whatever problems we might find, the contractor dutifully fixes.  It's like when anybody buys a house, the contractors aren't perfect and so a light switch might not work, and the toilets might not flush or something.  We're trying to open up some dining facilities, too. We don't have enough people on Harmony Church to justify a head count just yet but people will be coming and we've got to figure out a way to get the dining facilities open.
