| A joyful future | |
Lesa Bogle is proud that her three young children want to serve others by working as a police officer, firefighter and soldier. Her children know the importance of serving and protecting one's community first-hand. The Bogles used to live in a Toronto neighbourhood notorious for gun violence.
"We were so fed up with the crime in the community," Lesa says. "There was such a lack of programs and services for children." Life was no easier inside the family's poorly maintained home, which they rented from an indifferent and often absent landlord. "Our lives were very stressed as we constantly had to juggle the use of one tiny bathroom between four people. There was constant flooding in the basement, lots of bugs, and we were sometimes sick because of the poor ventilation and our overcrowded bedrooms. For a long time we looked forward to the smell of freshly painted walls," Lesa says. "I'm so thankful for this great blessing and sense of belonging."
Happily, Lesa and her children received the keys to their very own safe, decent and affordable Habitat Toronto home in time for the holiday season at the William's Way Dedication on Sunday December 19th, 2010.

| Crew Leader Corner | |
After Jan retired in April of 2007 from 31 years of managing various Sears department store locations, he decided he still had more to give. In October of that year, Jan decided to join the Habitat Toronto family and very quickly caught a bad case of "Habititus."
Jan's combination of leadership and construction skills were soon apparent and Site Supervisors asked Jan to be a Crew Leader.
