Thank you
to our volunteers, donors and supporters who put their name on the line this past year. Together we were able to give families living in need a hand up and make Toronto a better place to live for all. We are truly grateful for your enduring hard work and generosity.

Our work is far from finished though. As we settle into our new home at 155 Bermondsey Road, we hope we can count on you to continue making a tangible difference in your community, and help give more Toronto families a hand up, not a hand out with us in 2011.

Our new home

We've moved!

On January 4th, 2011, the Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario  cut the ribbon and helped open the doors to Habitat for Humanity Toronto's new home.

We invite you to stop by for a visit, a tour of the facility or a shopping stop at the ReStore! We would be proud to show you our new facility that will bring program and cost savings to the organization.

Through our new home at 155 Bermondsey Road, we are building a greater sense of community within the Habitat Toronto Family and building hope for the organization to continue to help families living in need in the future.

Welcome to 155 Bermondsey Road. Welcome to our new home.

Hard work makes a family's dream come true
Family Profile
Chin and Xian Ming Tea describe life prior to Habitat Toronto as one filled with difficulty and joy. Raising two children in a cramped two-bedroom apartment hasn't been easy. "Our living conditions could have been described as 'bad,'" Chin says. "Purchasing a Habitat Toronto home will improve our lives so much."

After seeing Habitat for Humanity Toronto featured on the news and in national publications, the Tea family was surprised when friends recommended they apply to be a Habitat Toronto partner family. Their friends thought a Habitat Toronto home could help them build a future with more joy and less difficulty. "My family likes to work hard. We wanted a Habitat Toronto house because we wanted to feel safe in our neighbourhood and proud of our home that we worked so hard for."

Building hope, brick by brick
House for HopeWe are excited to share that over 500 of you put your name on the line this past holiday season with your donations to the Buy-a-Brick, Build a House campaign! Over $100,000 was raised and each donation was matched dollar for dollar. One hundred percent of every donation will go to purchasing building materials for a Habitat Toronto home at 4572 Kingston Road and make a family's dream of homeownership a reality.

With each gift that came in, another paper brick and donor name was added to the "House for Hope" (pictured above). Now that the house has taken shape, it is a powerful reminder of the difference that can be made when we come together to do good work.

Thank you to all who took part in this celebration of the spirit of giving.

Crew Leader Corner
When Shelley was asked to volunteer as a Crew Leader for the ReTooling Build, she did so without hesitation.  "As a new Crew Leader, I am very proud to wear my orange crew leader t-shirt and work with an enthusiastic team of volunteers at the building sites.  The opportunity to meet new people and work together to help others in our community is highly addictive. After working at the building site I always get this awesome feeling in my heart knowing that I can make a difference in this world."
