March 11, 2010

As we head into the warmer spring months, we start to plan cheerful family get-togethers such as Easter or Passover dinner. As you gather for your own celebrations this spring, remember that there are families in our city that do not have a safe and affordable home to share with their loved ones. Donate to Habitat for Humanity Toronto today and help us continue to give Toronto families living in need a hand up, not a hand out.

A full household now has a home

The Mathabela FamilyWith five sons ranging from toddlers to teenagers, Thulisile Mathabela runs a full household. Her boys make a point of keeping their small apartment tidy and welcoming. "Although there are too many of us living under one roof, we work together to keep a clean and friendly atmosphere," Thulisile says.

The family regularly leaves their substandard apartment to play soccer and basketball.  She admits that before Habitat Toronto, life often felt hopeless. Living in a cramped apartment in need of repair and working long hours to support her family, Thulisile couldn't fathom how she could make life better for her sons.
