Finding your sweetheart on site
2009 Home DonorsYou might not think of a construction site as a place that cultivates romance, but you might be surprised at how well building homes and building relationships go together. "I never thought that I would meet the woman of my dreams on site. But there she was one day, peering out from behind a pair of safety goggles," reminisced Brian Thornton, who met his wife Bethany on a Habitat Toronto build site. Bethany and Brian have now been married for 3 years and welcomed their first child, Naomi, on September 2nd, 2008.*

Showing your sweetheart how much you care, does not have to be restricted to one day a year. Habitat for Humanity Toronto needs volunteers during the winter months, so come out to a Habitat build site to show your love by picking up a hammer for families living in need. Sign up to volunteer today.

A gift from the heart

A very sweet Valetine's GiftThis Valentine's Day, why give chocolate, teddy bears or expensive jewelry when you can give a Gift from the Heart? Donate to Habitat for Humanity Toronto and celebrate your love by giving a hand up, not a hand out, to a Toronto family.

Make a Gift from the Heart in your sweetheart's name and an e-card* will be sent to your Valentine to let him/her know of your generous gift.

So skip the your trip to the florist this year and instead make a heartwarming gift for those living in need.

* Electronic Valentine's Day cards are available upon request and can only be sent if a valid email address is provided. Select "Dedicate this donation" and "Send a free eCard" during the online donation process. Tax receipts issued for gifts of $20 or more.

Read. Study. Build!

Reading Week BuildFrom February 16th to March 5th, over 100 students from 4 universities will show their school pride by building Habitat homes at the annual Reading Week Build.

With an ambitious fundraising goal of $12,000, students from U of T, York, Ryerson and George Brown will spend their spring break wearing hard hats and steel toes on a Habitat build site instead of sandals and sunscreen in Florida.

Click here to support these students in their fundraising efforts or email Shauna Trainor to learn more about participating in this great event.

Canadian Home Workshop ShowWe also need volunteers for...
The Canadian Home Workshop Show at the International Centre from March 5th to 7th. Help Habitat for Humanity Toronto spread our message and get others involved in the organization. Please email signmeup@torontohabitat.on.ca to sign up for this event.

A royale donation

Irving TissueHabitat for Humanity Toronto is thrilled to welcome Irving Tissue, makers of Royale Tissue Products, to our home building family!

Irving Tissue first became involved with Habitat Toronto when they saw the beginning of 20 new Habitat homes being built right across the street from their head offices. They were so inspired by what they saw, they soon became Habitat Toronto's newest Title Home Donor.

Habitat for Humanity Toronto is looking forward to building solar paneled homes at the William's Way build site alongside Irving Tissue and welcoming 96 men, women and children to the Weston Road neighborhood.  Thank you Irving!

Crew Leader Corner
Crew Leader Corner
Shortly after Jan Smulders' retirement began in April, 2007, he was eager to find a way to get out of the house, stay active and learn new skills. This desire, along with his knack for building, led Jan to volunteer and Crew Lead for Habitat for Humanity Toronto.
