July 2012

Greetings!

There are so many fun fabrics now being designed for children’s bedrooms. Everything from Winnie The Pooh to more sophisticated patterns for the pre-teen. Children’s rooms are a great area to experiment with some fun colors. Start with your child’s favorite color and let the creativity begin! This month we will share with you three examples in which we channeled our “inner-child”.

Fun Ways To Dress Up Your Kids Room

For a 4-year-old girl, we chose a pattern of fairies and butterflies. We complemented the pink and green with a green gingham check...sweetly trimmed with bows and tassels.

For an 8-year-old, we chose a pattern which would complement her interests and preferences now as well as when she becomes a pre-teen...a fun print of owls and birds sitting on branches of the tree.

For the pre-teen, a more sophisticated window treatment of butterflies on the sheer fabric and silk dupioni panels, dressed with Pottery Barn crystal finials and tie backs.

Ask the Designer

Q: How do you know if a chair or sofa is a good candidate for reupholstery?

A: It should be a solid, well-built piece of furniture, originally constructed with quality materials and has historical, antique, or sentimental value. If it’s a strong maple frame that’s double-doweled and glued, versus staple gunned or screwed, you know that you will enjoy it for many years to come.
