Storm Update - August 24, 2012 -

Dear
Last night, I had a phone conversation with Pastor Pierre Ellisante from Village de Nouvelle Vie (New Life Village) in Port-Au-Prince Haiti. He had little knowledge and information about the approaching hurricane. We talked through some precautionary measures (the best we could with our language challenges). Flying metal roof-sheeting is a real danger in a hurricane. It would be a trick to get all the people from the village in the small concrete well house (pictured below) but Haitians are good at making the most of small spaces! The well house is the only concrete structure near the village and it is truly built like a bomb shelter - thanks to our Paraguayan UN friends. Please pray for the protection of the villagers, the recently constructed homes, and newly installed solar pump irrigation system.

The small concrete well house may have to serve as a storm shelter for the villagers!

A tent-city where I worked in Port-Au-Prince.
There are 400,000 Haitians still in tent cities since the earthquake 2 1/2 years ago. After several personal experiences of rising flood waters and dodging flying objects during tropical storms and a tornado in a tent city, I know first- hand the terror that grips peoples hearts! Despite efforts on their behalf, the people are very vulnerable and unprepared in the face of such a crisis. Please pray particularly for the under-resourced populations of the Dominican Republic, Cuba and Haiti that have little means to protect themselves from the storm. Twenty inches of rain is predicted for the island of Hispaniola. That amount of rain will be a significant problem for many areas of Port Au Prince.

YOU have been on the front lines with us and we are so grateful to the Lord for your prayers and contributions!
THANK YOU!
