Dear ,
Greetings from Haiti!
I wanted to take a minute to send you a quick update so that you can be Prayer Warriors for us this week.
Our family was invited to Haiti last weekend by the Colonels of the United Nations Paraguayan Company for the Medal Parade Ceremony for Parengcoy. This Ceremony validated the completion of their year commitment here. It was a true celebration and honor to be invited! Samuel was also given the opportunity to personally thank them publicly with a plaque presentation from NET.
After the boys returned to the Dominican, work began with Emily Hendershot and Susan Ranney from my home church in Davison, Michigan. Things were very productive until we ran into a big detour!
Since Thursday morning we have been vehicle-less. Unfortunately, the stress of driving in Haiti caused Floyd (the van) to lose a few of his parts while we were driving.
By God's grace, we were in the parking lot of the IOM Warehouse with security and were able to drive the short distance to the UN base of our Paraguayan friends...with no brakes and no power steering. They have been working on Floyd and even went to a dealership here in Haiti to see if parts were available without success.
Currently, we are waiting for parts to be brought in from the DR, but Emily and Susan must leave this Thursday. This causes our progress to be cut a little short.
God has been so faithful to provide in times of need. Will you pray for us and God's provision in this difficult situation?
Because of this delay in our work, we also need your prayers on the following, most pressing, areas of the project:
ACTED Plywood Homes: After waiting since May for the construction to begin, ACTED is now waiting on us to move seven (7) temporary shelters before they will begin construction. We have tried many options and our last resort is a meeting with the UN Japanese Company on Tuesday morning. Please pray that they will be able to help us and that ACTED will be patient and wait for us so the people of the village will receive these new, better plywood homes.
World Vision: Tomorrow morning we will meet with World Vision about a possible proposal for funding. This partnership could mean great progress for the people of the village.
Thank you for your continued prayers and notes of encouragement! You have been part of this project through your support from day one!
