Dear ,
We are dependent on your prayers this week as we face several important issues in Haiti. I (Kendra) will be sending you more details about my last 2 1/2 weeks at New Life Village in Haiti. I was accompanied by Emily Hendershot, Omar Vanderlinder and Marty Trepus. In the mean time, there are some immediate ways in which you can partner with us in prayer over the next few days!!
If you want to see more photos and lots of details about what is happening in the village you can click the following link to see Emily Hendershot's Blog updates. Emily's Blog
1.) Pray that the rains will subside so the UN engineering team (Paraguayan led with heavy equipment support from the Chilean and Japanese units) can move the plastic temporary shelters in time to receive better wooden temporary structures. We need to move 18 shelters. After getting the equipment stuck twice in the mud and spending 2 frustrating days, only 5 shelters have been moved. The time the military has allotted for this transition is closing in.
2.) Pray that ACTED (a French NGO) can get their wood out of customs and the process would proceed smoothly to build the better wooden temporary shelters for the families of the village.
3.) Pray for the approval of a proposal we submitted for livelihood assistance for the women of the village displaced by the earthquake. We should hear something by Wednesday Nov 9th. It would be a great boost to the women if this proposal were approved!
4.) Pray for provision to meet the hunger needs of the families. They have just planted a second round of crops after animals ate up the people's first planting. We improved the fencing and worked with a better water distribution system on the hand-pump well. This is a temporary solution until we can procure a solar pump.

5.) Pray for livelihood and micro-enterprise opportunities to materialize. Water Missions International is considering providing a commercial grade water purification system that would serve the village, the greater community and provide a micro-enterprise opportunity.
6.) Pray for Pastor Ellisant's health. Pray for wisdom as he leads this community spiritually and in every-day practical challenges. Pray that he will be able to instill hope and encouragement for the future of the villagers. (Below - Pastor Elisante with melons he planted in the village.)
7.) Pray for provision of solar lighting. There is no electricity and we currently have one solar light for the whole village. Pray for a necessary meeting with the Mayor of Croix-Des-Bouquetes.
As we advocate for the poorest of the poor your partnership in prayer is vital.
