Dear Family and Friends,
We want to thank you for the many times you have prayed for us over this past year! We have felt your prayers as we have faced many challenges while working with the earthquake refugees in Haiti.
Once again, we are asking to be remembered in your thoughts and prayers as our whole family (Samuel, Kendra, Landon-12, Nathan-9 and Andersen-8) is working in Haiti for this week. The boys are still on Christmas break and wanted to come and build a house for a family living in a tent. So far, we have yet to clear the supplies for that building project through Samaritans Purse. However, today we are putting together 100 Sawyer Bucket Filter Systems which we brought from the DR. We will be teaching refugee families how to use these filters to take out any cholera microbes in their drinking water. We are delighted that there has been no cholera cases in the Delmas 6 Refugee Camp. Continued teaching, water treatment, and health precautions are a major focus of the camp leadership committee.
We also brought a chest freezer, 100 buckets, 15 rolls of barb-wire and 20 rakes, shovels, & picks in our "Floyd Van" from the DR. These supplies are to help secure and clear the new land being made available on which to relocate some of the Delmas 6 Camp families. Other than a couple bee stings and a few thorns in the feet, the boys are doing good!
- Please pray with us that--the UN Site Planning (IOM) will be willing to continue working with us as we lay out the plans for Samaritan Purse houses to be built on the new land available to us.
- Please pray that--the World Vision Water & Sanitation Team will help us provide for these vital needs for the relocating families.
- Please pray that--we will be protected from dangers around us.
- Please pray that--we will have energy & wisdom as we prepare for a team of 9 construction workers coming from our home church in Davison Michigan. We are preparing to build many Samaritan Purse Temporary Shelters at the end of January.
- Please pray--for the many who mourn the loss of loved ones in the earthquake one year ago this next Wednesday.
