Dear Family and Friends,
Thanks for your prayers. It has sure been an interesting time! Protests have had the roads completely blocked for the last 2 days so we have been closed in the apartment here at Delmas 28. We occasionally venture out on foot to keep tabs on the situation. We have taken advantage of the time to sort and inventory medications we brought. The airport is still closed tomorrow (Friday) and has been closed since Weds. (I am not sure if my dad will be able to fly out on Saturday or not.)
Through a friend named Lubens, who came to the capitol to help us translate, we have learned that his town, called Jacmel, has had a sudden and serious cholera outbreak. Unfortunately, the timing coincided with the announcement of the election results leaving this town isolated from outside medical supplies and care.

A young girl who had been in Luben's 5 year old daughter's class at school on Tuesday was dead by 8 am Wednesday morning! This morning, Lubens learned of three more friends in Jacmel have died. In the apartment here in Port-au-Prince, we have 500 IV solutions, antibiotics and oral rehydration salts used to treat cholera. I brought these meds in from the Dominican Republic in case of an outbreak in our Delmas 6 camp. By God's grace, our camp has had no cases so far. Cholera is quick moving but very treatable!
Because of the unrest, roads being barricaded with burning tires, people have not been able to transport the sick nor access sufficient medications to treat them! We have unsuccessfully devised at least 4 plans to transport these medications to those treating the sick in Jacmel (a 3 hour drive) via plane, helicopter, driving my van with a police escort etc. The van is loaded and ready to go but we still are praying for a safe way to get these meds to Jacmel where they are desperately needed! Please pray that we will be able to safely get these supplies to the airport and Missionary Aviation Fellowship will be able to fly these supplies to Jacmel tomorrow morning. Today I spoke with Dr Ken Pierce, who lives in Jacmel, and he was happy to distribute and administer these meds. I have a sense that these apparently "wasted days of waiting for calm" might have had a higher purpose.

Please pray for the positive conclusion of the land acquisition process for the relocation of the Delmas 6 camp. Unrest and national protests broke out after Tuesday night's announcement of the fraudulent election results. On Wednesday, we were supposed to meet with the Mayor of Croix-de-Bouquet to finalize the land arrangement. On Wednesday, we were also set to pick up materials for 10 temporary shelters. A team from YWAM PAP was going to help us build the first 3 shelters. Since we have been in lock-down mode, please pray that we can bring both of these important projects to a place of certainty.
